Concealed Carry Holder Arrested

  • A concealed carry permit holder and another man burglarized and shot up a home in south suburban Dolton, police said today.

Aaron Whirl, 22, of south suburban Riverdale was charged with home invasion, aggravated discharge of a firearm and residential burglary, said Dolton police Chief John Franklin.

Whirl, who had a concealed carry permit at the time of the Aug. 11 incident, was ordered held in lieu of $300,000 bail Aug. 14, according to Franklin and court records.
Just for shits and giggles, what does this pillar of society have in his background?
  • In 2012, Whirl pleaded guilty to resisting a police officer, a misdemeanor, and was sentenced to 12 months court supervision which he successfully completed and was ordered to pay a $199 fine.
And what about Quinn's and Madigan's vaunted safety net that supposedly allows Dart to put the kibosh on those of "questionable character" from obtaining Concealed Carry permits? Especially those with instances of ... oh, we don't know ... fighting the police? Wasn't that one of Dart's demands? And Garry's?

We imagine that they'll be answering lots of questions from a curious media about how they're falling down on the job. Right?

Who ever the hell those reporters are/were in Ferguson, MO grilling the Ferguson police chief last week, they need to come to chicago. I won't comment my opinion on how the police chief in Missouri is probably feeling dealing with a high profiled incident on top of still having to try to calm a city and sympathize with his officer, but I'm sure he's in a tough position. But I'd give half a paycheck to see Illinois politicians stumbling around trying to answer questions like the police chief in Ferguson.

Welcome to the club, concealed carry license holders! You will now be vilified just like the police for every minor infraction, let alone made an example of when one of those who should never have been in your ranks slips through the cracks.

Ain't life grand in the big city run by communists?

Regardless of the concealed and carry I'm pretty sure this fine pillar of society would still use a firearm in a robbery.

I'm being cynical, but I bet they wanted and allowed a number of concealed carry permit holders to have some kind of criminal background, this way when crimes are committed by CCH, they will just claim that guns are unsafe, and try to do the usual blanket banning.

To the 1:57 am comment about being vilified just like police. We're used to it already. As every with every gang banging revenge shooting in the past , has always blamed every FOID holder in existence thru the Chicago media and every "North of I80 legislator" that came down to springfield to introduce yet another piece of restrictive legislation. Which if passed, had Anita and Lisa yet once again plea bargain out of existence. At least with the passage of CCL now Officers spouses and family members have the option to carry legally legally should they choose to go thru the application process. Without having to hide behind the blue line of spousal privilege.

This is the 3rd incident reported involving a CCW holder. This guy, shouldn't have had one. The 1st was a homeowner defending himself in his own yard. One for the good guys. The 2nd one was the guy in Crestwood shooting randomly at a robber. Very poor judgement. The media jumps on all of them. When an officer shoots someone in the line of duty, the media pounces. Since Jan 2013 there have been 3442 shooting victims in the City of Chicago. Where is the media and the Revs pounding their chests about this? When do the people responsible get called into account? When will stop laming the police and start looking in the mirror?

can't get soup n a sammich for RPO. law requires a conviction. so, either the state amended the charges or something hinky went on there. the law is pretty clear on approved dispositions for resisting cases. no soup for you. so, something got messed up.

Illinois has to have the worst concealed weapons permit license procedure I have ever seen. The signs that increase change of robbery by over 50% and politicians threatening any business owner, who does not have one, with business license revocation. Hell, you don't even have to qualify with the weapon you are going to carry. How is the permit holder even going to know if they can use their weapon if they don't qualify with it. Basic human thought will show that many carrying will not be able to hit their target under stress let alone on a range.
Another law pre-made, by political design, to fail and make those willing and capable of carrying look like horrible people. By now the Police should be used to being lied about to look bad, this will be a whole new area for non law enforcement individuals.

I just love how this guy is a CCW permit holder! Maybe he just had a late start with his criminal career but don't call him a CCW permit holder. Makes the rest of us look bad.

They'll just use this story to demonize concealed carry. Couple this with the poll on how concealed carry makes people feel less safe and Rahm & McCompstat have a lot to work with.

So "Conceal Carry" isn't working in Riverdale. So what. I live in Chicago. Where crime, shootings and homocides are down because of the new "Conceal Carry" laws that are in effect.

I'm guessing that the concealed carry permit is sort of invalidated (e.g. you're also gonna get charged with a gun crime) if you're committing other felonies while in possession of a gun and said permit? Just a guess. Lawyers, doctors, and cops have in rare instances been known to commit crimes even though they were lawyers, doctors, or cops...it doesn't reflect badly on all lawyers, doctors, or cops. Same for black people...can't lump 'em all together because some of them are bad, can we? So why should it be any different for CCW holders? It's just part of the human condition. I'd be willing to bet that, excepting for mistakes by the ISP that slipped through the cracks, CCW holders are going to prove to be particularly law-abiding going forward. It's just a feeling I have.

Wtf I'm 22 got my concealed carry denied because of an underage drinking charge(not a DUI) that I received supervision for in 2010. That offense seems worst and it is more recent.

To unpublished shit-for-brains:

we've written extensively about that exempt stalker and asked over and over again why he still has a job.

as for those with misdemeanor convictions, the law allows continued employment - we wrote about concealed carriers and specifically, those with charges involving fighting the police.

try to keep up here short-bus and stop arguing points we didn't make.

Posters obviously NOT the Police.
It's spelled "Homicide".

(Maybe you should move to Riverdale?)

AND to poster.....Yes, Sparky. There are communists here. One of them is in the White House now.

Really? Gather your facts and notify the FBI. You have NO IDEA the hero you'd be if you could prove that to be fact!
