Like Son, Like Father
- Samuel Walker Sr. had been preparing for the funeral of his teenage son, Samuel Walker Jr., who was gunned down last Friday in East Garfield Park.
Now his family must decide whether to hold a joint memorial instead.
On Thursday, the elder Walker was shot to death in a Humboldt Park gangway — just two days before his 13-year-old son was to be laid to rest.
Walker the younger was among seven shot in a single incident (the lone fatality) and the family tried to paint him as an altar boy, even though he already had 5 arrests, including 3 felonies for dope dealing. He also had a gang record that would embarrass any parent worthy of the name.
Walker the senior was a shining example to the younger - a known gang member, dope dealer, weapons offender and followed his son in to the void in the same manner - shot in the head on the street in broad daylight.
What is the matter with people? Or are these folks?

So I just finished reading this story on breaking news and thought to myself: tlike father like son would be an awesome headliner for scc. I then click on scc and what do I see? Like son, like father. Ha! Awesome
An unknown gang member is killed, so no loss. Just saying.
I can see why police officers get numb. It is a matter of coping.
After seeing things like this happen, the "value system" you have been brought up with, just collides with what you see happening on the street.
There is a question that runs through your mind, "How is this happening?" while you have to pick up the pieces of the results of this Bizarro World.
Paying money into these problems via entitlement programs is NOT getting to the root of these problems or solving these dysfunctional actions.
It may make politicians "feel good" and those who buy off on the notion that throwing money into these problems will somehow change things for the better.
Throwing money at it just fuels the chaos as it rewards the bad behavior and prolongs it. A new solution is needed.

"Dr. Werner Spitz, a veteran forensic pathologist testifying for the defense, said that photos from the crime scene indicated swelling of McBride's hands.
"A blunt impact to the hands causes swelling," said Spitz, who did not conduct McBride's autopsy but reviewed case reports.
"Dr. Kilak Kesha, the Wayne County medical examiner who conducted McBride's autopsy, had testified Wednesday that he believed there had been no need to examine the teenager's hands.
"The killing of McBride, who had been unarmed, has sparked protests in Dearborn Heights and comparisons to the 2012 shooting death of black unarmed Florida teenager Trayvon Martin. The prosecution rested its case on Wednesday.

I have suggested "Thunderdome" on a number of occasions, but no one wants to hear that. The only other answer is for me to tell friends and relatives whole sections of the city to avoid.
I have also recommended voting out every sitting politician.... every last one of these lying, thieving sons of a bitches.

Instead of focusing on the two homicides the Walker family accounts for this week, why can't we look at the upside and think of all the future crimes that were prevented.
