SCC, how about finding out all the candidates names and having a post about it. Im sure all the candidates would appreciate the chance to reach out to our huge police family for help. The 7 month campaign is a hard one and they all could need help from our extended family of police. just an idea.

What i love about working at HQ is that i am able to work out or sometimes weather permitted jog or i love how many ON DUTY officers and bosses take numerous trips to star bucks and also weather permitted sit outside starbucks and enjoy a cup.BUT all other officers working nights in a beat car THANKYOU

There was a murder in the summer, a few months ago, in 019 at the corner of Malden & Montrose. Although it was before the opening of school it was right on a Safe Passage route (Montrose). Nothing ever on the news. Then a guy got shot on Windsor and Clarendon in 019 (you know, the quiet northside)right on a Safe Passage route (Clarendon). Nothing in the media.

No full duty police officer should be assigned to any office work . Get police officers off duty disability and disability pension to work 3 -5 hours a day to earn their 50 -75% disability pension . Not all but over 70 % of officers on disability are able to work part time . They can vacation , drive kids to and from school , go to college , work part time etc .

OFF TOPIC: Police are being targeted by civilian ticket writers who either see a FOP medallion or a sticker in the window or they know that a police officer owns the vehicle.Guy's I know have told me they observed the ticket writers giving tickets to cars up to 20 minutes before violations can be written they have called and complained but as you know it goes no where. I would call the police detain them and call for their supervisor.

Spot on! The academy is very short staffed. We do not have the personnel to spare. People have to understand how much intense work is involved at the academy. We are responsible for making sure that recruits are ready to hit the streets. That involves a lot of work. Teaching is not easy.

The hallways were trashed, yet the principal does not "tell the CPS board" that two uniform Police Officers are needed and assigned inside this school.
The Chicago Police helicopter circled overhead still did not stop the students from chaos!

When ones considers that the civilian ticket writers use computers to generate the citations, I call horseshit on this one.
I average around 1100 to 1500 tickets per month as a mouth breather for Finance. My dismissal rate for the last quarter was 2.3%. The City PEA's are focusing more on the Non-dismissable tickets like No City Sticker or Improper Display or Expired Plates or Rear/Front plate required.
Like watching the clock for 9am street cleaning in 018 or 020 and while on patrol for Street Cleaning finding PO issued citation all written for 9:05am but spread out over a 5 or 6 block area.
I've seen PO issued tickets in the 11th Ward for Rear/Front on cars that have No Plates and the officer wrote the ticket twice (underlining Rear for the first and Front for the second).
I've seen Parker's issued by PO's from unit 212/211 for a Cracked Windshield stuck on cars that are Parked in a Standard Parking pay garage. And it is a moving violation that isn't allowed to be issued to a parked car, or else We would be writing it over at Finance.
On the flip side, I've been inside a few Police lots and seen obviously Cop owned cars with out of state plates and no city sticker but then you run the VIN and it comes back to a chicago address.
Or how about all the guys that are still driving around on those Expired 2 month special event plates And covering up their VIN because they KNOW the plates are illegal and can't be traced back to them.
I can handle seeing cops write Parker's. If it's a slow shift and you need to drum up some activity to keep the Sgt or Lt happy or your going after VRI or some other special OT detail. I do get it.
Sorry for the long post SCC...but one further thought on this:
1. for all of you that have never used the Autocite ticket machine: the internal clock can NOT be altered. It's locked out and can only be changed to the current time via physical RJ-45 port to USB post cable connect in case of a system crash.
2. If we at finance are handwriting tickets because out computer is down, we have a city issued phone that keeps sync via a cellular link to maintain the correct time of day. I never depend on my wrist watch because I keep it 5-10 minutes fast so I'm not late for anything.
3. If we run a plate through the S.O.S database to check the City the vehicle is registered to, unlike a Cop, we don't get name and address on our Autocites and if we call in a Temp plate to check the city and date issued, our supervisors only tell use City or Suburb and Date it expires and the make/model it is registered to.
I've been asked the question "don't you know whose car/truck/Van/etc..that is?"
I can honestly say "no I don't, but it has/is whatever the violation is."
Darn near anyone can get a generic FOP sticker.
The ones that tell a PEA that "this vehicle belongs to a cop" is the Sgt. or Lt or Capt. Association stickers.
By the time we see those stickers on the windshield, the ticket is probably printed out and we have standing orders to Not Void any ticket legally issued once it is printed and our Field Supervisors have told us to Not call them because someone wants a supervisor to order the PEA to void the ticket.
As for those of you that attach their Active member FOP medallion to their plates, keep in mind the wording of 9-76-160 in regards to keeping and maintaining the registration plates free and clear of all foreign materials.

Section all 3, 2 bedroom apts for a 1000 sec 8 voucher your profit will be approx 1500 to 2000 a month. Beats the shit out of VRI and you get to watch it while you work. If you can't beat them join them I did and I'm retiring with 25 yrs on and 7k a month in income, pension or no pension. Be smart.
Safe passage is a joke....but desk dollies traffic and Fort fellatio occupants had to man those posts before and after school. Now beat cars are held down for 2 or 3 hours on 2nd watch and 3rd watch and tact are tied down after school. Now backlogs are created and other cars have to pick up the slack.

The murder in 019 a few weeks ago was 100 feet from a Safe Passage route (Magnolia north of Sunnyside) at 10:50 in the morning. The victim was pending trial for felony drug offense and a Truman College (GED) student.
Media and the alderman described it as gang related. "Truman College student killed before lunch 1 block from college near Safe Passage route" also applies.
This further illustrates how the same story can be spun differently to meet different goals.

I've seen Finance go through all city lots and I've seen the Clerk do it and there is nothing we can do as cops to prevent it legally. city owned lots are open season for enforcement, period.

There isn't a pay parking garage in Area 2 ball lick. You've got no business in a police lot, you don't know who owns what car, and you have no business running a VIN in a police lot. People get fired for misusing databases.

Ummm....under Chapter 4-232 any vehicle can be inspected for a potential city sticker violation if the parking lot or garage is open to pedestrian traffic.
I don't personally like the mouthbreathers, but finance peas can't be interfered with legally if engaged in City Business on the public way or on City Property.

OFF TOPIC: Police are being targeted by civilian ticket writers who either see a FOP medallion or a sticker in the window or they know that a police officer owns the vehicle.Guy's I know have told me they observed the ticket writers giving tickets to cars up to 20 minutes before violations can be written they have called and complained but as you know it goes no where. I would call the police detain them and call for their supervisor.

Seriously, looks like someone is looking to advance himself .......two city departments and running for alderman and your not even 40 yrs old? This guy needs some more work experience........way too early for him to get elected and sit back and get rich.....

What i love about working at HQ is that i am able to work out or sometimes weather permitted jog or i love how many ON DUTY officers and bosses take numerous trips to star bucks and also weather permitted sit outside starbucks and enjoy a cup.BUT all other officers working nights in a beat car THANKYOU

I agree. We need pro police politicians out there lobbying for us too. They just shouldn't be working police. It should be somebody who is not locking people up and sit around and make cheesy smiles and wade through the knee deep bs that comes with the territory. I heard the community activist guy Andrew Holmes say something after one shooting that was straight pro police and common sense: pull out a gun on the police and you will get shot and deservedly so. It was a black man, with some sort of credibility now in the community, saying this on tv. If you think no one listened, I disagree. The truth is every cause, every issue needs a politicking spokesmen who appears neutral so people see them with less bias and let them speak. I have had quite a few conversations with people after the Dorner and Ferguson incident that were all the police are bad errrr!!! but because they knew me and trusted me, I broke down the incidents and though it was hard for them to swallow they actually heard me out. And then it got to where when a controversial use of force happened, one would call me and say what do you think about this? And I'd tell her both sides. Point is I was able to give her the idea in her head imagine your kid brother was the arresting officer. How do you feel about the idea that he might be killed or injured? I was even shocked with other guys (black males) that came to me, knowing I was the police, and telling me "Man I woulda shot him too!" regarding Ferguson. That's the one thing I want to do after this job is over, politic on our behalf and refute inaccurate police commentary because nobody else is really ahead of us in that game. I don't like politics but I do see it as a necessary evil especially since public opinion affects our budgets, equipment and everything we do. I keep bringing up Evans. Never mind the charges...HOW do you get that type of community support with those types of accusations...and be the police? At some point SOMEONE has to take on the beast of public opinion for us because we suffer because of it now and it's getting better.
