Most Dangerous

  • It boasts President Obama as its son, features a swaggering mayor in former Obama aide Rahm Emanuel and cheers for the 2013 Stanley Cup winners, the Blackhawks.

But America views Chicago as something different — America’s most dangerous city.

In the latest YouGov.com poll, Chicago tops Los Angeles and New York, with 53 percent of Americans saying that the city is “unsafe” to 33 percent who call it “safe.”

New York was called “the second most dangerous,” followed by Los Angeles and Washington, D.C.

Texas' major cities of Dallas and Houston were called the safest.
Not like this isn't a surprise to anyone paying attention - but crime is down!

Hey there cowboy... haven't those folks had CONCEALED CARRY or even OPEN CARRY there since the Alamo?

Please take note that concealed and open carry of firearms is an easily practiced right of self-defense in Texas as opposed to Illinois.

Speaking of 'crime is down', has there been even one media sighting of McMouthy in the past week? Maybe he's been told to stand down? I mean, it's Thursday already and there hasn't been a new strategy announced yet this week.

I would put New Orleans and Detroit at the top of that list. Large Texas cities can be very dangerous, in select parts of the city at least. There are parts of the west side of San Antonio I would not walk down the street, day or night, and if I did I would damned well be armed and watch my six.

Polls are important because they measure perception and perception is essential - but think about how stupid the average person is, and remember that half of the people are even more stupid. Chicago is safe if you stay out of Englewood, the CTA and the west-side. You remember 1993-1994.

In my area of Chicago I feel very safe for my friends, family and myself.

If we were foolish enough to venture into certain neighborhoods of Chicago we would fear for our lives because of our heritage.

The same holds true for other cities across the world. Many consider Acaupco to be dangerour but in reality the tourist zone is as safe as Edison Park or Beverly.

The media unfairly paints entire cities with a broad b rush, which the masses believe.

Thing is, this city has corruption out the ass, but unless you wander into areas on the south and west sides that you have no business in unless you live there, it is as safe as anywhere. Why doesn't the media hold a particular persuasion accountable for the problems they seem to attract?

Obama heard of McMouth's new strategy every week, and is now considering him for Secretary of Defense. First he must be vetted: Q: Was shooting at streetlights an official police duty?

A. They weren't streetlights, but little Martian sspaceships, which I singlehandedly repelled.

Raise your right hand, and repeat after me, Mr. Secretary...

Retired from job in 2010 moved to Texas; not what it's cracked up to be folks. Also FYI, there is no open carry in Texas and Dallas is like the west side without the snow. The things that the DPD deals with are just as bad as what we saw. Also, you think McBudwiser is bad do a google search on the M/1 Dallas Chief.... His son murdered a suburban (Lancaster, TX) copper a few years ago and the chief went to the funeral of the thug but not the copper. They do treat retired LEOs well regarding carry though, I have the same rights as active. Just beware it's not Xanadu. Be safe CPD.

Here is what I have been told (Disclaimer: I have not independently verified this information from multiple sources and some of the math may be marginally fuzzy) Here goes: Chicago has about 550 shooting deaths annually (AT THE CURRENT RATE). Of those, approximately 75% take place within a geographic area encompassing approximately 107,000 people. That is about 100,000 out of 2.2 million. Less than 5% of the population has 75% of the shooting deaths. Next, (relevant to this thread) approximately 85% of all shootings in Chicago (including the 25% outside the small geographic area, so the numbers are skewed inside, I am sure) have a gang member either as the shooter or victim. Those result in some staggering discussion points. I live in Elgin, we have about 100,000 people. But we certainly do not have more than a dozen murders a year, and our Police Department acknowledges we have a "gang problem". Elgin has a gang problem with 12 murders and 9 of those gang related. Chicago has 550 gun deaths and over 450 of those gang related and probably, at least 75% of those, or about 350 in a population about the same as Elgin. Elgin 9 and Chicago 350.... And the three Stooges, Pflager, Emmanuel, and McCarthy say it is a gun problem not a gang problem. If they were salesmen of stocks and bonds they would occupy a cell next to Bernie Madoff!!!

Thats because the national media is covering it. Plenty of neighborhoods in Chicago that have few problems.
Knock out a few southside and westside neighborhoods and the city would be one of the safest.

Here is problem 1:17am .
Your neighborhood is safe , yes because the people are civilized . Good chance you live on a beat 3 Times the size of an area in englewood , Austin that has 3 beat cars and vri cars assigned . Also your real estate taxes are double that of other areas with more police protection .
Also you probably paid double what areas with 3 times the police protection .
This is something our union should be fighting for , equal police protection and services . I'll take a safe passage way in every neighborhood , how about some anti violence , cease fire grants for civilized neighborhoods , so we can keep out the criminals .
Vote a big fat NO .

Canadians used to look down on America as violent, gun terrorized cities, while there cities like Toronto were clean, safe, gun free, liberal (also overwhelmingly White).

But, note that American style urban crime has come to Canadian cities in a huge way, the result of 3rd world immigration.

Toronto even has knock out game, Black mob beatings and murders of elderly citizens.

According to stats per capita, Chicago is not the most dangerous city, not even top ten. You may hate the politics and even your job, but the reality is it is still a safe place to raise a family. The grass isn't always greener just because someone says it is. There are many people who retired early, left the state, and now have regrets. There are those that left and are genuinely happy, but there are many that are just perpetrating because they don't want to admit they didn't think their decision through. Think for yourselves people and your individual situation. Don't just jump on the bandwagon.

Rauner recently said John Burge should lose his pension even though his crime occurred years after he retired from the CPD, lying to a Grand Jury. He made no comment about George Ryan keeping his pension from his time in the legislature, earned before he committed his crime, accepting bribes and Official Misconduct.

"It boasts President Obama as its son...But America views Chicago as something different — America’s most dangerous city."

The above sentence reveals what passes for logic in a journalist's mind. Why would having Obama as a son be "something different" than America's most dangerous city? In fact, the two go hand in hand. And how could a relationship to Obama be anything worthy or boasting about?

See... If you say it loud enough and often enough some people will believe ANYTHING.

Like: CRIME IS DOWN.

Like: WE ARE UP TO FULL STRENGTH. So if it takes the police hours to get to a victim who does not wait around there is no report so there is no crime and lower stats. So it's a "19-Edward"; but you have to be a troll and don't know what that means.

And you can tell it burns him the fuck up that he has to face the possibility of spending more time and money on another term to "build his resume" because the longer he stays in Chicago, the more vulnerable he is to being outed, the more likely the money taps will get turned off and the support evaporates.

Rahm is in a hurry to be "somewhere..."

Chicago comes in a hair's breadth worse than Dallas, and safer than Memphis, New Orleans, Baltimore, Philadelphia & Detroit.

So I guess there are no surprises only if you're talking about perception, rather than reality.
