Shooting Investigations Memo (UPDATES)

Here it is if you haven't seen it:

Interesting times as the Chinese proverb says - interesting times indeed.

UPDATE: Here's the Sun Times and Tribune articles. Frank Main actually credits the blog (so did the Tribune), he does some research, and then he throws in the Ferguson card:
  • Chicago Police officers fatally shot 13 people last year and 10 this year through Aug. 24, records show. Most of those killed were African-American.
Really Frank? "Most"? How about pointing out the actual racial totals if you're going to go that route? And then maybe you could be brave the way Eric Holder wants you to be brave and open the discussion, "Why are so many black folks (and people) pointing guns at the police, shooting other black people (and folks), stabbing, beating, robbing and burglarizing." Or are Holder's words just so much bullshit propaganda and he doesn't really want anyone asking those questions lest they get answers the progs don't want to hear?

Don't answer that Frank - it's rhetorical.

UPDATE: To the unpublished "prover v proffer:"
  • He is advising to have a witness on YOUR side, to "prove" what you are saying/have said - and how you said it.
Do you know why feebs show up with two agents? So that they have a witness to what they are asking and to what you are replying. And if you think they don't shade their recollections a little bit (i.e. "the witness hesitated." "the witness stuttered," "the witness seemed reluctant to answer.") then you haven't seen them operate much.

Very good advice in that letter...

You might tell them the truth but leave out something that they didn't ask about so you have withheld information. And they can be as inaccurate as they want to be. They can screw you and go believe some gangbanger coached by some lawyers trying to cash the ghetto lottery ticket.

Remember what we were reminded during the Jody Weis era...

NEVER TRUST A FED.

Stay Safe. Here is some more good advice from a lawyer...

I would think before saying anything to those three agencies one would have representation provided by the union, even if they are there to be a witness to what was said.
if one doesn't have it, they can make anything.
And as the adage goes

Dont stand there with your thumb up your ass trying to figure out what should you do. When shit hits the fan make sure you go e to your families.

Go to work and do nothing. Don't fall for "If you're out there working, we will have your back", or "If you are a worker, we will go to bat for you". No, they won't. Just show up, two personals, a lunch, and go home.

So if your retired the knock you will also get on the door will be "hello we're from the FBI and we are here to help you" why Chicago? Did rahm call them? Is this nationwide? Is holder behind this? Father flaky? Jesse "I gots no job" Jackson? Sharpton? Who? So if you were involved in a shooting and went through the entire process and it was cleared and justified is this for a civil rights type case? How many cases where a weapon is used but then some gang banger takes the weapon and runs from the scene with old boy dead? Copper clearly saw the weapon, just wow! Why anyone would want to be CPD today is beyond me!

There is a reason that they come to your house instead of going through the department. Showing up to your house they may catch you after a few high balls and your judgement being impaired, then they tell you your rights but if you didn't do anything wrong you got nothing to hide. Then they tell you they already got someone to flip and take immunity, but you don't need immunity if you did nothing wrong.
Problem is everyone wants to be on the paper so they have a great selection of idiots to give different versions of events. And then my friend somebody, anybody is fucked and that is all they need
When they show up ask them if they have a warrant,
When they say no slam the door and call the lawyer. period as Harold would say!

Society has slowly but shirly been trying to demoralize and weaken law enforcement over many years, but now it's become very clear what they want. These are dangerous times for the police. Being proactive will only benefit a boss looking for further promotion and hurt the working cop. Remember, only PO's will be investigated by the justice department.

This is a fucking Feeb witch hunt ordered by Holder.

From what we gather is a copper will get a knock at his door by these goofs because he was involved in a shooting in which he/she/it who was shot allegedly didn't have a firearm him/her/it self?

o_O? o_o? O_o?

Soooo...

A Copper drops shots to keep some off their meds loon (or other such)from vivisecting a family member or a passer by with a chunk of mirror glass and years after the fact they show up at a Copper's house to talk about it?

This is what these goofs are on about?

Why not just go ahead and drop any semblance of law and civility and just go ahead and break into the Copper's house and rummage through his kids underwear drawer?

This is some more of that bullshit Grand-Dad used to warn us kids about...

Also, don't these overpaid goofs know how FAST an offender's gun can disappear in one of these chaotic ghetto shooting scenes?

Shit... 20 years of law enforcement experience should be the rule before becoming a fed.

Nobody under 40 should be allowed to be a fed anyway.

A bunch of glorified children running around second guessing at leisure what the adults had a less than split second to decide.

retired PO here who has been visited by the feds while employed

A couple of things.

One,they do come to your home.

Two They come in pairs because their policy says anyone with access to a firearm they send a two man team.

Three Another benefit of sending two agents is that each can be a witness against you in case you get charged with lying to the FBI which I think is a felony

Four An old timer once told me. "You cant listen yourself into trouble." And "If you dint say anything you can't say the wrong thing."

Five Best advice if you are visited by any law enforcement officer is to remember how the fish got caught. He opened his mouth.

Do not speak to them about anything If there is no warrant, politely decline the interview. And call FOP

Yes, to avoid any drama at the CPD location. Why bother getting MF'd by a bunch of coppers who'd believe anything another copper told them?

Going to the homes of officers presents it's own problems, but your very own Department wants it that way. There is an unwritten agreement that Coppers will only be confronted at work as a last result. Name one copper in the last 10 years who was snatched at work by the Feds.

It's more than 10 years but Joe Miedz and Bobby Thorne were taken away from Homan square in bracelets. Now these were arrests, so any other cop snatched at work by the Feds would be a kidnaping or the cop is a rat.

Years ago I wondered why I was told never to talk to an FBI agent, I was still on probation! I was told that two would come to my house, not to let them in, to say nothing and invoke my right to have an attorney present.

This turned out to be true and sage advice in the mid 1980's and is still true today. Don't ever try to out smart them. Much of what they ask you they already know the answers.

Yes, lying to a Federal agent is a felony. Unless Richard M Daley does it. That they excuse.

There are just too many ways to answer this.
1) Your idea of legit may be vastly different from theirs;
2) Sometime, depending on whom they wish to bow to, "legit" means nothing to them;
3) They wish to give the appearance of the police lying.
And many more.

Have you learned nothing from the on-going shit in Ferguson?
