More Money Gone

You know it's cheaper to pay coppers overtime than to actually hire coppers, right?

We imagine it must be cheaper to pay out damage complaints to motorists than actually fix the roads:
  • Chicago motorists filed 5,179 vehicle damage claims “specific to potholes” this year — an avalanche twice as large as the last four years combined — thanks to the road remnants of a brutal winter that wouldn’t quit, the city clerk disclosed Tuesday.

The cost to Chicago taxpayers won’t be known for years. That’s how long it takes for individual claims to be processed by the City Council’s Finance Committee.

But judging from the $387,928 paid out from Jan. 1 through Oct. 8 to 1,302 motorists whose vehicles were damaged as far back as 2008, the pricetag could be staggering.
And the city isn't paying these claims in anything like a timely manner - you'll see your money after a year, maybe two.

In the meantime, if you buy a new car, you'll get taxed so Rahm wins. If you go to a local auto mechanic, you'll pay a city tax. If your really unlucky, you'll end up paying a city tow at some point for extensive damage. Rahm's winning and your paying.

O.T. - I held my noise today as I voted for Gov. Quinn. My thought going into the polling place was maybe I Would vote for the third party candidate.

Rauner is a great businessman. However, I was apprehensive to vote for him based on what I perceive he may do to public pensions. Regardless of who you may vote for, or against for that matter please vote!

I DID EARLY VOTING IN MY DISTRICT.

With another brutal winter on tap, expect that to more than double this year. How about painting the lines on the road too. When I get to parts of the city I don't normally travel, it's a guessing game as to where the lanes are. This is particularly dangerous with those nonsensical bike lanes.

Like chumming the water for sharks and then swimming in it. The lawyers are lining up for those lawsuits. Our city is being run further into the ground every day.

You are a dumb ass, everybody crying about what Rauner might do to public pensions. Inform yourself, he said he would not touch police and fire pensions. Yeah just keep things the way they are because it's working so well. Scum bag politicians in charge of our money its all gonna be fine, you won't have shit in a few years. As far as I'm concerned give me back all my money that I paid into my pension plus interest, let me collect all the social security that I'm eligible for and set me up in a 401K. I'll invest my own money with my financial advisor, if your not smart enough to be responsible with your own money then shame on you.

Nothing gets to a governors desk that doesn't go through the states most powerful politician, Mike Madigan, first. You wasted your vote if you made it solely with your pension in mind.

It's funny, not ha-ha funny, but thanks to all of Chicago's 'Infamously Dangerous Potholes', when I see a new car on the road out here in beautiful DuPage County ;-), or in tv or internet ads, that have those Low Profile Tires & Fancy Rims (Mag Wheels), I shake my head, chuckle to myself and think: ......

---- 'MY God you couldn't drive that car four blocks in Chicago without blowing out a tire and/or destroying a wheel'. ----

And then to have the city only pay friggen half of your damages, and a year later to boot, if that? Hell, what's the point of having a nice new car in Chicago. A four year old SUV with big tires and that'd be it.

Oh no every time that car is sold sales tax is applied to the sale. That mean if a car is sold 6 times, it's taxed 6 times. He when over,& over.

I buy my cars and get them serviced outside of the city. I also shop and buy gas outside the city. For those of you who can, this is a cheaper alternative. Chicago has a lot of border...

IMHO this city is fast becoming unliveable. For so many reasons.

Sadly, by the time you need a police force to maintain civilization in a place that's so far down the road to third-world status, the tax base has largely already evaporated.

The worse things get, the more producing citizens will flee leaving an under-funded police force in a situation reminiscent of the movie Blackhawk Down.

Found out the hard way 26th St is closed between Western and somewhere east of California Ave. Take another E/W Street.

Rauner will cut a deal at Rahm's behest with Madigan to fuck us on day one.

The odd man out is Quinn. They want him gone.

Wake the fuck up.
