Promotions Coming?

Guess which orders they just updated?

The "Merit Board" and "Academic Selection Board" orders?

Start updating those resumes and making those phone calls. The question is now what rank are they promoting?

"Merit Board" and "Academic Selection Board"?

Please excuse me while I vomit.

Are there actually any amadans amongst you dear readers that doesn't realize that this outrageous bullshit is nothing more than the clouted perpetuating clout? The exempts will "nominate" their cronies or whoever they are told to select by CPD "superiors", politicians and the revs.

Don't you find it suspiciously bizarre that the City absolutely refuses to categorically and unequivocally define their version (vs. Merriam-Webster) of "merit" in writing?

Allow me to pose a hypothetical:

CPD member "A" would not recognize a felon if he bit him/her in the ass. Never worked mean ghetto streets; a "house mouse". Furthermore, in standardized intelligence testing, "A" has the IQ of a borderline moron. However, "A" has connection$ by blood or otherwise with a Democratic politician, a high ranking active or retired exempt or the so-called clergy. If "A" is a relatively attractive female, she also has absolutely no scruples about using her "feminine wiles" to gain a promotion.

Meanwhile, CPD member "B", as a street cop, has arguably made more Part I felony arrests than anyone in the entire history of the CPD. "B" gets along with his/her peers and even attained a perfect score of 50 on the 12-minute standardized Wonderlic intelligence test. Even any possible enemies would agree that "B" is definitely not a "suckhole". "B" just does his job extremely well believing that his/her performance speaks for itself. His/her integrity and leadership qualities are manifestly above reproach.

In the CPD, forced choice, who is rewarded with a promotion, not to mention a 6-figure lifetime "gold braid" pension?

Patronage (aka: CLOUT) is the lifeblood of the most corruptly managed major city in the nation.

Should "B" with incontrovertible evidence of shameless corruption and fraud "blow the whistle" to the MSM? FUGGEDABOUDIT! City Hall "owns"
local MSM.

Getting promoted for Sgt shouldn't just be based on test score alone!!!

I know a lot of fkn house mouses and desk princesses - or even beat car dog asses that spent a lot of company time studying they're asses off while the rest of us were answering calls, backing people up and locking jag off up.

In order to make Sgt, you should be qualified not only by scoring great on a test, but also on how many arrest you've had in your career. And I don't mean ghetto arrests (1baggers, drinkers, SUB & other nonsense) that coppers in 011/007/015 will have an advantage over say a copper in 020. There should be some kind of scale or formula to promote those who truly deserve it.
I would hate to be a working cop --- after 10 years -- and have a dog ass as my Sgt when we all know he/she didn't do shit as a PO.

Why are lieutenants and Captains assigned as inspectors. That should be a bid job for sergeants .
Eliminate captain rank , assign lieutenants to an area to patrol several districts . Sergeants have always run the watch and street officers ,
Merit captain rank is filled with supervisors that were merit sergeant and lieutenant .

Just what we need more bosses. The promotional process is so flawed in this dept. I agree no one with less than 10 years should make sgt. No meritorious just for getting shot or shooting someone or being a house mouse, crazy right. No meritorious for sgt at all, maybe det, but not sgt. You should have to know your stuff. Also no one should make capt that is not 50. These people are far too young and & immature, and once promoted, never demoted, and they stay until 63. Look at Henny Penny, Cynthia White, Rousee, Eugene Roy, to mention just a few, who overstayed their welcome.

John Northen:

Candidate "A" clinches the promotion. It's "the Chicago Way"!

Regarding candidate "B" and the Wonderlic test. I suggest you read the following case out of the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Second Circuit. Robert Jordan v. the City of New London.

Mr. Jordan scored a 33/50 (IQ=126) on the Wonderlic test. New Haven, CT refused to hire him as a police officer because he was "too smart". A perfect score of 50 on the Wonderlic is the equivalent to an IQ of 160 with 100 being average. Candidate "B" should have chosen a career in obrain surgery or rocket science rather than policing. The CPD does not want "the best and the brightest".

If anyone read the new contract, there was a section that stated that a working day is not 8 hours anymore and a working week is not 40 hours anymore.

It then refers to another section that is not in the contract. If you look that part up, it then refers to a federal law.

Looks to me like there will be longer work days with OT denied.

Anyone can study and get a good score, how did these so called don't test well people pass the test to get on the job, most Street wise coppers are good coppers, especially street wise people that have good sense, but many think they are better then others, just look at all the backward hat wearing youngsters who think that working Tac or Gang teams make them good coppers. Bullshit, we all learn everyday, some just get it a little better and faster then others, and good coppers are good listeners too. I know of 3 patrolmen who turned down the offer to be nominated for merit. 2 for detective and 1 for sergeant. Granted it was just a nomination with no guarantee, but they did turn it down. These 3 were old school, Vietnam vets, no college, blue collar, fearless, bold, logical, humorous, drinking, smoking, hard working gentlemen. If Rahm wants a pension grab that he wants to call reform, and assurance that he will not have to face a prolonged legal battle, he can get agreement in writing if:

Partial distribution tax free cash out option in exchange for capping your pension at 50% regardless of years of service with a raised minimum age of retirement to 55. Up to 200k payout without penalty (in exchange for the voluntary cap), depending on age and years of service but limited to those with 15 or more.

Officers with 20 or more who agree to a capped pension will be allowed a work week shortened by a day with no change to pay.

Some more detectives off of a 10 year old list that are going to retire within 5 years? How about a new detective exam so we can get some fresh blood up there. Most of the kids coming on this job were still in grammar school the last time a detective exam was given by this joke of a department.

Fuck you. If you were offered a merit spot, meaning more money/better pension for your family, you wouldnt take it? ya, tell me no you liar. Just enjoy your pension and go back to the nursing home. Just remember there is a difference be.....
......................
They were exactly what made this department great fun to work on. They were everything that this department is not comprised of today. So fuck you back punk.

10/03/2014 11:47:00 PM

Gosh gramps take it easy. Lol! I know some vets (who are GREAT guys as well) who did take it. I bet you also know some vets/great guys who did take it as well...anyways I'm not going argue with ya, now go put on your pants (which I'm sure are up to your midchest) and go outside to yell at the kids walking on your lawn. What a tool.

Its obvious no one can share their opinion with a little ball busting. I still stand behind some good men/women who did take merit and became great bosses. I'm not saying YOU have to agree. Get that thru your thick skull. And you know what, I won't hurt your feelings by calling you bad playground names, Ok little Johnny?

You started this shit with your condescending "gramps", "tool" and pants "...up to...midchest..." insults, smartass.

Seventy percent of the EXAMSCAM promotees (i.e., equals corrupt CPD "merit") did not deserve promotion. Thirty percent earned promotion in the objective portions of the "process" minus
the rigged 80% weighted "orals". I still have full documentation of this FACT. At best, your specious claim is anecdotal without empirical evidence.

Check my first post above from 10/2 @ 4:31 PM.

The obnoxious and sarcastic tone of your 4:17 PM post implies that inept suckass "A" should be promoted over CPD member "B" who actually earned the promotion.

If you want further details, click on my name and read my blog. Case closed.

Officers should not be promoted to sgt until they have 8 to 10 yrs under their belt. If you haven't learned the job by then, then you don't deserve to be a sgt. Sgts need to be in grade for at least 6 years. Too many Lts don't know jackshit about anything and then look to the sgt for answers. The whole system is screwed up. Way too many triple merit dog asses.

Bullshit...

Nobody should be allowed to even fondle some chevrons unless they have 20 years or more with a minimum of 15 years in Patrol with bonus points working in hot districts.

And even then, you could still end up with a loon, a goof, a thief, a low life or a degenerate lout deciding your fate on this job.

Smart Policemen make themselves small, hard to hit targets.

Fuckin great.
Time for change in 005th district.
Why does the Commandrg have a car detailed around the clock on 123 Perry?
Neighbors fighting each other.
Since when did that become a priority?

Case re-opened

You and your rambling posts are irrelevant.
Fucking lighten up! Don't take yourself seriously, cause nobody else is.

There are two kinds of people in this world. One who yearns to take a sip from the fountain of knowledge and the others who take a gulp from the gas station urinal. Do yourself a favor, please flush before you take a drink.
NOW you can close the case.
