More Camera Questions

Some people in the comment section get it - why not the city?
  • My concern is having the audio / sound recording on ALL THE TIME.

Isn't this a violation of Illinois eavesdropping laws? (written by the crooked Illinois lawmaker/politicians)

With the "in-car" camera system we are only allowed to audio record state charge violations.
The audio MUST BE OFF for any municipal violation.

  • how about the new gps radios. we were issued them right before Christmas in 024. no training as to what the buttons or features are of the radio, no mention of gps in the radio, the gps parameters, etc. just here's your new radio and go. this place is ass backwards. it doesn't surprise me at all with the body cameras given the history of training in this department.
And this important question:
  • I'd like to ask a White Shirt if they are ok approving an arrest report that has body camera footage and not watching it?
This however, bears some scrutiny:
  • Bernard Kerik, former NYPD Commish, made $6.2 million by exercising stock options he received from Taser.  Kerik was released from the Federal Pen in 2013.  G-Mac was Deputy Commish under Kerik.

    Taser is evidence.com's owner.

    See what's going on now?
Interesting.

It's the connected vs. serfs. 14 district 3 watch was chosen for a reason. The connected know the reason and the 3rd watch knows the reason.

Go into the station and talk to the Capt., Lt., Sgt. and or the D/C will they make you take the camera off?

With the public just tell them "just letting you know everything you are saying is being recorded"! A lot of D.D. the combatants are going to tell you to leave.

The one good thing out of this will be that you get to review the recording BEFORE you have to give a report on and beef. FOP got that. Will cut down on the rule 14 beefs.

Just do police work with the understanding the you are being recorded from the time you leave the house till you get home. If you do that you will not get caught lowering yourself to the same level of the shit we have to deal with.

Kerik was McPoliceGod's political sugar-daddy at NYPD...

Sergeant in four years?
Lieutenant in seven?

Promoting green-as-gooseshit supervisors
is the upward fucking of a Police Department and it breeds bad, politically beholden, tone deaf bosses who haven't had two seconds of hard time on this job.

For example?
Being tag teamed by rotten m/fers like
Bubble-Head and Pineapple-Head for something silly
like not buying a ticket to the company "holiday" party.

Among other things...

...Prosecution rests.

Let's look at how "The New York Connection" plays out:

Bernard Kerik is NYPD Commish, NYPD gives Taser lots of business. When he leaves NYPD, he runs into $6 million by exercising "stock options" with Taser. He later goes off to prison to serve his sentence.

Deputy Commish G-Mac is bringing in evidence.com, Taser owned. I wonder if G-Mac will get over $6 million when he leaves Chicago from a Taser connection?

Another Deputy Commish under Kerik was Frank Straub, now Chief in Spokane. Straub was perhaps a little more obvious: he gave Taser a no-bid contract for body cameras and evidence.com services. Oh, looks like he's having some trouble with state law that requires consent from both parties to record out there, so those little devices aren't being used so much over there, but Taser is accruing fees for the storage space they got. I wonder how many millions of dollars that former Deputy NYPD Commish will make on his options?

Wow! The "connections" one can make serving as a Commish or Deputy Commish with NYPD!

I wish I could make over $6 million when I leave the job.

Aside from the eminently clear malfeasance with Taser being chosen as the vendor, why must we carry yet another device on our bodies? There are manufacturers that have integrated the video camera and audio microphone into the lapel mic for the radio. Oh, but I guess Taser is not one of those manufacturers...

When I came on I went to 024. I asked to see the manual for the computer un the room off the front desk, I wanted to familiarize myself with it's operation. The desk crew looked at me as if I had three heads. Manual? User Guide?

An old guy led me to a wall in the room with the computer and showed me where a few commands were written on the wall in pencil. "There's your manual" I was told. Scribbled on the wall. Different people had written down several of the most used commands. It was all command line driven then. No manual. No training, no nothing. I couldn't believe it. Big city police department and the instructions for the computer were scribbled in pencil on the wall.

In the springtime city workers came in and painted the room. Then there were no instructions whatsoever. That is what it was like in 1986 for everything.

Run a name on the radio and it frequently took 15 or 20 minutes for results, if any.

An Evanston cop showed me their computer. It looked like the difference between WWII era crap and modern day NASA. The Evanston cop ran a plate on his car computer (they all had computers, few in Chicago did) and got the results in less than 5 seconds.

If anyone talks about the good old days, that is the good old days. Most didn't bother with the computer. It was fucked up then, it is fucked up now.

GPS in the radios is just a feature the radio has. The radios are being handed out for other reasons. Statewide interoperability is one of them. The radios are dual band meaning that in the future you may be able to communicate with a plethora of first response agencies throughout the state (both police and fire bands). GPS is probably not enabled on them just yet. All it really is right now is a radio with more channels and connections to statewide systems which are still being built. For now just enjoy it as a fancy looking zone radio because thats all Chicago can really use them for. The radio systems being used in Chicago are still far behind the technology those radios are equipped to handle.

Let's see, features not enabled, enjoy it for now, far behind the technology.

9/11 was almost 14 years ago. The Emergency Comm system was fucked up then, it is still fucked up. The Feds threw around billions to come up with new systems so we can hear and talk in subways, fire can talk to police, everyone can talk to everyone else when needed.

So what happened? Commercial interests have bribed our congressmen and senators through campaign contributions because THEY want the bandwidth made available by changes in radio and TV. So they can sell more WiFi and Bluetooth devices and home remote controls and other such nonsense.

Once again, Emergency services takes a back seat. And mostly those who were there on 9/11 have lost the fight to obtain bandwidth for police and fire. Those who were fighting for us have given up, lost or just retired.

And still we can't call for help in high rises or subways and it is still all fucked up. But Verizon, AT&T and others are making lots of $$$$$.

Typical. This is freedom. Freedom to fleece the public at every turn.

According to the Union hard checks will be available 26 Jan, but City technically has till 02 Feb before interest starts adding into our final payout.

Yes. When Rahm goddamn well feels like it. Plus when the City borrows enough money to pay it. See, we didn't endorse Rahm like Local 2.

The nexus between the supplier and a high ranking decision maker in the department? Looks like the lobbyists greased the skids making good in Chicago and the nation through a justice dept/white house push for police cameras. Follow the money behind the agenda. The left’s agenda always seems to have money making opportunities for the chosen few who have the most influence in this best money can buy government.

Cameras are not the solution to the out of control crime. The sad part is the real problem especially the murders and shootings will continue unabated. Police and the military are greater problems in the left’s eyes than the out of control violent crimes such as robberies, murders and aggravated batteries with weapons The problem in their eyes are the police, not the criminals. The whole progressive driven agenda places emphasis on police behavior. In the meantime, the bodies stack up in the democrat run Crook County big as a warehouse morgue as the excuses for criminal behavior rationalizations are advanced.

The left has an agenda to condition the skulls of mush to be critical of the police and military while softening the image of hard core criminals through re-education efforts by the media, academia, high ranking Washington D.C. bureaucrats and elected officials.

Bring on the cameras. Pictures of filthy apartment complete with rodent and bug infestations would require the intervention on of D.C.F.S and the health dept. Lots of building code violations including not up to code wiring, dilapidated porches, broken doors & windows, rodent droppings, lack of smoke detectors etc. need to be documented and reported directly to the building inspection department. If this is a section 8 apartment notify H.U.D. and request an safety/cleanliness/building code compliance inspection. If an elderly person is involved, contact the elderly abuse hotline.

Use the video and accompanying audio with for 100% compliance for traffic including for non functioning auto lights, the “Its okay Mister. I’m going to work” no license types and the I left my drivers license at home types.

Remind those affected that if they don’t like the camera enforcement they should contact their aldercreature, the mayor, Operation PUSH, sate reps & senators, the governor, the U.S. representatives & senators and most importantly, the white house and light up their switchboards.

The new radios we have are GPS capable, however, the City has not paid to have that function activated yet. The cars have GPS, the PDTs have GPS, and in time the radios will too. Once the radio GPS is activated they will surely deactivate the vehicle systems and the radio system will prevail. They're more interested in where you are than where your car is, and unless you take the radio apart every day you won't be able to attempt to manipulate the GPS function. The internal battery backup with ensure that turning the radio off will not inhibit the GPS from reporting

How stupid can people like you be? Do you really think the bosses who love you now will stand by you when you get fucked over? When some dude on the street wants to generate a cr number on you? If multiple cr numbers or ipra goes against you? Junior, you have a lot to learn. Trust me, getting sued, getting stripped and worrying day and night what will happen is not a picnic. Tell dad to relax,my guess is that the COLA will be on the Feb check. I believe he has to be retired for the month of Jan before he gets the pay and increased COLA for it. Like if you get hired Jan 1 your dont get paid until you worked the first 15 days. Make sense. or if you get a pay raise on Jan 1 you dont get it until the Jan 16 paycheck

1/24/2015 12:54:00 PM

The January retirement check is paid at the END of the month. February is paid at the end of February.

The 2015 COLA is on the January check paid on January 31.

Wrong. The January retirement check is paid on January 31, the end of the month. You have to live those days to draw a pension for them. COLA is effective Jan 1 but paid on Jan 31. That Jan 31 check is the first check of 2015. The last is paid Dec 31. If you die during the month your pension check is only for the days you were alive.

This case about releasing the cr numbers has been bouncing around the court system since about 2005 or earlier. It's all based off a lawsuit from the old 2nd district gang teams in the projects. Evanston PD has exactly how many members? How many squads? I'm sure that they run a much tighter ship discipline wise that we ever have.
How many times have you ridden in a car with a partner who you've seen purpose wreck some of the equipment, or turn it off?
Smaller dept. +tighter supervision=longer shelf life for the equipment.
Larger dept. +low to non-existent supervision=CPD.

When I got hired here, quite a few years ago, we got a new piece of equipment. I had a real job before that involved industrial psychology. You know, training people. I asked the guy teaching me my new job when they were going to formally train us how to use and maintain this new, kind of dangerous equipment. He said we wouldn't. I told him I had experience with this type of machinery and that a training session should be provided by the city because of the potential for personal injury to employees and the public. He just laughed and said it wouldn't happen.

I'm glad to see that nothing ever changes. If this were private industry, the lousy personal injury lawyers would drive a company out of business for this blatant disregard of any rules.

Body-Cam Footage Shows Moment Police Officer Fired Gun Killing Armed Man During Foot Chase

Jan. 24, 2015 3:54am Oliver Darcy

Shock footage released by Oklahoma authorities Friday shows the moment a Muskogee police officer made a split-second decision to shoot an armed man last week during a foot chase.

Body-cam video shows officer Chansey McMillin confront a man identified as Terence Walker, 21, on the afternoon of Jan. 17. According to police, the man had sent death threats to his girlfriend, who was inside a nearby church attending a wedding, Tulsa World reported.

Remember To Vote For Rham
he is the Cops Friend

1/24/2015 11:26:00 PM

$$$$$$$$$$$$$$

No, it was ordered by federal court. I don't like rahm but this has nothing to do with rahm. This case about releasing the cr numbers has been bouncing around the court system since about 2005 or earlier. It's all based off a lawsuit from the old 2nd district gang teams in the projects. Google "kick the pigeon" and u will know what I'm talking about

Hey Dean then why are you so silent besides wheres the order??? Ba ba bullshit

O/T...are there Capt.s in Detective Division? And who are they? What do they do? I thought that DW was fired for the Michigan thing but there are two on the querry. Which one is the groping king. Can you be a Capt or XO after such an incident. Wow is that the construction company too? Which one lost and found the missing files? A lot to take in huh. Clouted ....just plain clouted.

1/24/2015 03:43:00 PM

Idiot.....you are just a clueless plain idiot.

Yeah, that guy John Smith sure gets around a lot also.

I must disagree on the description "plain idiot." The first poster is an extraordinary idiot, a moron of historic proportions.

Regarding the Gus Grissom comments. When they were finally able to recover his Mercury capsule about 10 years ago, investigators found the bolts did just blow like Gus said they did.

1/25/2015 07:44:00 AM

Of course they blew, they had to blow for the hatch to blow off like that. The investigation after the event found that to activate the bolts manually required the astronaut to hit the metal trigger with the side of a closed fist, leaving a bruise. Gus has no such bruise so they concluded it was a "technical malfunction"

There was a later flight nicknamed "Molly Brown" as in Unsinkable Molly Brown, in astronaut humor. They were told they could not name it Molly Brown and then decided on Titanic. The name remained Molly Brown.

Don't be knocking on Dept. Supt. Byrne like that. He clearly wouldn't hold stock in the company if he didn't believe in their product. I doubt that any of us would come down on you for making legitimate suggestions.

Everything!

The trustees for the most part who are still working are useless as they almost have been in the last 20 years. Who's going to take a day time due for a Committee? I'm not. Give up VRI?

Regarding the Gus Grissom comments.

Lay off criticizing Gus. He was a hero that volunteered for an undertaking that was extremely dangerous and possibly very detrimental to his military career. He died in the service of his country.

While the bolts "blew" no one knows exactly why. But the capsule was build by the low bidder on a government contract and there were many complaints about workmanship quality.

We were also told that the in car cameras only record when activated. The truth came out at the FOP meeting on Tuesday that the in car cameras are always recording. The secret is that the hard drive is always in operation.

Put a call into the FOP today. They said that the city handed over the retro checks to the comptroller but they are sitting on them, no reason given. Best guess is they should now be issued by 3 FEB 15.

I hope it is like those retro checks we got in around 2002 or 2003. I was due around $7,000 and the City paid me almost $15,000. Turns out I got an interest free loan from the City for almost $8,000 and paid it back 4 years later. They overpaid lots of people. A few got shorted which caused them to audit everyone. When they finally figured out how much they overpaid me and we settled on a suitable payment it was about 4 years later. No one could figure how we got overpaid but overpaid is better than underpaid. Funny thing, no one complained about overpayment. Lots of people bought cars and room additions etc. A few people put the overage in a savings account, figuring they would ask for it back. They did, and they got it but it took a long time.

That City Comptroller, Steve Lux, kept his job and is now Chief Financial Officer of the Chicago Park District.

Nothing would surprise me with this screwed up City.
