Who Keeps Giving This Guy Money?

And why? He's a smug sanctimonious asshole:
  • After raking in $30 million in the last five years, $11 million of it for his re-election campaign, you’d think Mayor Rahm Emanuel would have enough money.

    Think again.

Over the last week alone, the mayor has added nearly $800,000 to that total, much of it made possible by huge contributions that would not have been possible if state caps were still in place.

The mayor’s latest filing came Tuesday, detailing $463,500 in contributions from a Who’s Who of business and labor.

It includes $76,000 from the IBEW PAC Voluntary Fund, $25,000 apiece from the Finishing Trades of Chicago Co-Op PAC and the Painters District Council #14 Political Action Fund and $25,000 from Dave Billy of the International Association of Firefighters.

The Chicago Firefighters Union Local 2 recently announced its surprise endorsement of Emanuel after supporting mayoral challenger Gery Chico over Emanuel four years ago.
Firefighters, union electricians, tradesmen...the very people Rahm has been campaigning against publicly for years. There's also a list of out-of-state financiers, bankers, and other big money types looking at RAhm's national ambitions - like maybe Kirk's Senate seat.

Just imagine if Rahm put this much effort into raising money for the pension balloon payment - we'd be sitting pretty.

We need to endorse Emmanuel because we all know he's gonna win. We don't have to like it and I actually hate the idea of endorsing him but let's not forget.. This is politics. The man who uses his heart in politics is the first to die. He will win and he will stick it up our behind even more than he has ever done just because we did not endorse him. You choose your battles, makes it easier. I'm not saying lay down to him, I'm saying endorse him and keep him off our backs, then when the time comes use that endorsement to get something from him. Fop played it safe... But not too safe by endorsing nobody. Fop won't endorse rahm because they would be finished with the membership.. The won't endorse another candidate because they know rahm is gonna win and don't want to piss him off.. It's both a win/win and lose/lose for the fop at the same time

It seems that a lot of people and organizations recognize a winner and a good leader. If Rahm wasn't good and wasn't doing a good job under difficult circumstances do you think they would all support him. They all know who will make the best mayor.

Unions' are not what they used to be. Those in charge are just as corrupt and greedy as the politicians. I don't blame and can understand certain politico's who want to get rid of unions'. Pass into law and expand certain "worker's rights" that ensure worker's protection and conditions or something to that effect. When unions' were first forming in this country they were for the working people and had a positive effect. Now unions' have turned into a an extension of political corruption and manipulation. Did the firefighters union ask its' members who they should endorse for mayor? They took it upon themselves to speak for its' members, that's not what a union does. Who within the CFD union decided on this particular endorsement? A closed door meeting with a handful of individuals took it upon themselves to represent the masses. Samuel Gompers is turning in his grave right now.

OT:

Illinois pension ruling may not impact Chicago case, attorney says

CHICAGO Wed Jan 28, 2015 8:17pm CST

Jan 28 (Reuters) - If the Illinois Supreme Court voids Illinois' pension reform law, that ruling will not derail another law aimed at shoring up two of Chicago's public pension funds, a lawyer for the city argued on Wednesday.

Both Illinois and Chicago are defending separate laws in different state courts against challenges from labor unions and retired workers that the measures, which reduce pension benefits, are unconstitutional.

Richard Prendergast, an attorney representing Chicago, told Cook County Circuit Court Associate Judge Rita Novak that the 2014 law for Chicago's municipal and laborers' retirement systems would not automatically be voided if the state's high court later this year determines a 2013 law enacted for Illinois' sagging pension system is unconstitutional.

He said the state is basing its defense on the need to invoke its police powers to ensure it can fund essential state services. The city has an additional argument that its law does not unconstitutionally diminish pension benefits because without its cost-saving elements and higher contributions the two pension funds would become insolvent within a matter of years, he explained.

"The one thing that is not contested here is these two pension funds are in the toilet," Prendergast said at a court hearing on the unions' request for a preliminary injunction to stop the Chicago pension law.

Michael Freeborn, an attorney representing a coalition of unions, countered that the city was making a "flimflam argument" that it has to diminish pension benefits in order to save them.

He pointed out that Chicago can use its home-rule powers at any time to make actuarially required pension payments that would prevent insolvency.

The law took effect Jan. 1 and requires higher pension payments from the city and its workers and limits cost-of-living increases. Two lawsuits filed in December contend it violates a prohibition in the Illinois Constitution against impairing or diminishing public worker retirement benefits.

That provision is behind litigation targeting a law allowing cuts to state worker pensions. A Sangamon County Court judge in November rejected the Illinois law on constitutional grounds. The state appealed the ruling and the Illinois Supreme Court has scheduled oral arguments for sometime in March.

Illinois has the worst-funded state pension fund, while Chicago is struggling with a huge pension funding burden that led to credit rating downgrades.

Both sides in the Chicago case will be back in Cook County Court on Friday to present evidence to support their arguments.

Unions' are not what they used to be

(((((

Yeah yeah... and for all the rest of your pathetic bullshit about unionized workers you can go fuck yourself.

Laws are for chumps, but you don't understand that one do ya? No "law" written by political scumbags is going to protect public employees from the ruthless fucks who buy elections for themselves. Public employees will NEVER desire to see their careers placed in the trusting hands of politicians above labor contracts that CAN be enforced.

Public employees may be the ONLY entity that actually mandates having contractual protections against their employer.

Politicians are proven scumbag opportunists who steal with both hands from everyone in sight.

Only a true fool would actually want to have their careers put in the hands of thieves rather than ensure their best interests with contracted employment.

But in your brainwashed mind, you got what YOU wanted from their existence in the form of vacation days, sick days, higher pay, better working conditions. Now that you start feeling the pain of NOT having any employment protections because YOU aren't a member of a unionized workforce it's obviously time to get rid of those unions that aren't doing YOU any good anymore, aint it?

'Unions gave the country better wages and working conditions, but now I'm not benefitting from them anymore so those of you who ARE protected by unions can go fuck yourselves".

How about go fuck YOURSELF. Whatever bullshit we believe about our union, we still get employment protections, fair wages and benefits because a contract exists between US and our employer, of which we would be the FIRST ones to be shit upon by the likes of scumbags like Emanuel.

So shove it up your ass kid... regardless of how political our union is, we still have contractual rights and some level of security for the future of our careers.

Now go back to pushing carts at walmart kid.... and cry that you can't get better wages and working conditions "on your own merit" as you think it should be.

Make no mistake....Rahm is beatable. He is poling just over 40%. He is the Machine candidate and he is polling that low!!

Get out the vote. In the election, just get out the vote and force the run off. Whomever is the candidate to appose Rahm in the run off, vote for him. Get him elected even if you don't like the guy. Voting only takes a few minutes and getting rid of this parasite is so important.

If it's Willie or Chewy, they will be minimalized and can't do much damage. If they surprise us, great, we keep them. Fioretti would probably do a good job, but same thing. If he is a poor manager, he goes in four.

Rahm is an awful human being and a tiny little bully in the big chair. Allow him to go four more years and we are stuck with him for life. No one else wants him.

To the surrender monkey who's post is on top: Give up and endorse a guy who is trying to take away what you have worked for? I'd rather go down fighting than beg for his scraps.

Get out the vote. ANYBODY BUT RAHM!

Union endorsement of RAhM without the FOP is a signal of one of two things, FOP has guts (the obvious) to step out on it's own with the pension issue looming and none of the trade unions facing this issue or FOP is foolish (also obvious) by not sucking up in the same scenario.

He's gonna try to change our pensions. He's gonna "stick it in our ear". You're going to endorse that??!!!!! You endorse the guy that's going to help your needs if he wins. Otherwise, don't endorse anyone. Fuck that little midget. You know how he feels about us. He knows how we feel about him.

I think we need to run a police officer for mayor. We have to find Chicago's Finest. I think I found him:

I believe that Integrity, Morality and Honesty are the cornerstones of any relationship. I believe in The United States of America, The Constitution and all that have gone before us defending our freedoms.

I can be briefed on any investigative or security situation and give an immediate assessment of investigative or security procedures. From computer to physical investigations or security practices, I have the ability to identify any current or potential vulnerabilities and the ability to come up with a comprehensive plan to conclude the investigation or correct any security deficiencies. I have participated in every level of the investigation process and believe that my Investigative Experience surpasses that of any investigator from Federal, State or local branches of government.

This is the kind of humble quiet leadership we deserve!

HECK NO!

They give Rahm union member's money (OUR money) and then Rahm rewards them with cushy no show jobs when they retire. Same with union endorsements. I don't remember having a vote on that matter.

How about we never make a political campaign contribution UNLESS it is put up to a rank and file vote for approval. Same with an endorsement of any candidate.

Stay Safe. How would Rahm fare then?

Why is the FOP the only union that has to play by those rules? You have other unions like SEIU endorsing all manner of leftwing nonsense and causes. They actively campaigned in favor of Obamacare

But our FOP took a "no comment" position on Concealed Carry in Illinois DESPITE overwhelming support from the membership

Why is ours the only union that isn't free to speak out?
