Ambush in Minnesota

  • Minneapolis police arrested a 43-year-old man Saturday after the early morning wounding of an officer who investigators believe was shot because he was a member of the police force.

The man was arrested on suspicion of violating his probation, burglary and aggravated domestic assault, according to the St. Paul Pioneer Press. Any connection to the shooting early Saturday is still under investigation, assistant police chief Matt Clark said at an afternoon news conference.

According to police, the officer and his partner had just handled a burglary and domestic assault call and were standing by their squad car at around 5 a.m. when someone shot the officer. His partner drove him to a hospital, where he was in fair condition Saturday afternoon, Clark said.
Not much you can do against an ambush like that, but a plan to get a wounded partner to a hospital if the situation permits it is probably wise.

And maybe some first aid knowledge beyond what you got in the academy all those years ago wouldn't hurt, either.

Maybe carry some basic first aid supplies ON YOU. You might be using them on yourself.

Most of is work 99 because of staff shortages so good luck with backing or EMS saving our lives. Nice try -- we are all sitting ducks out there and the department and the Mayor don't care about poloce lives or their families.

GODSPEED officer happy your doing ok, this phenomen is driven by the liberal media turning stories that are truth into lies like the ferguson thug who is where he belongs for what he tried to do to an innocent decorated officer. It's pathetic though that the officer Is unemployed and was terminated from his job, this thug was going to kill more people, just please be careful, stop being in the car driving around texting and not paying attention, keep your head on a swivel, crack the window listen outside, look out for each other back up is very important!

Simple alarm call no more "I got it squad let you know if I need help" nope wait for backup and then arrive together look around been on the job 29 years retiring this year, been to to many funerals and hospital visits, I'm going to miss the fellow brothers and sisters in blue but nothing else, when I came on we had bosses that backed us up the "real deal" type. We also did not have phones, now everyone has a camera and video phone, looking for that ghetto lottery, and the city steps in and helps them along by going after the copper for nonsense. There was a time when being the "real police" was accepted and the tax paying citizens supported us now? You know the rest!

Any religious or immigration affiliation of the assailant?
One can only guess why it wasn't reported.

I just retired with 33yrs, some of the best training this Department has offered is Law Enforcement Medical and Rescue Training (LEMART). Take it when offered it's an eye opener. It could save you or your partner.

Isn't Minnesota where the terrorist attacks are threatened and they have radical Islamic taxi drivers?

Buy good equipment. You don't have to be a "gear queer" like me, but when you have to buy something "pay once, cry once." Stay aware. And in the words of Ernest Emerson: "Train like a madman, fight like a demon."

... and please back each other up. When I was in midnights evey job was like an outdoor roll call. I'm on days now and it's not the same, makes me worry. Dude will be less likely to try if there are coppers tripping over each other at the call.
