More False Stats

This is actually humorous. You think that the best publicized crime to hit Ravenswood/Uptown would be counted in the statistics, right? There's no way they'd hide that one. You'd be sadly mistaken:
  • Fresh questions are being raised today about the accuracy and transparency of crime statistics provided under Chicago Mayor Rahm Emanuel.

CWB has found that the beating and robbery of Emanuel's teenage son on December 19 does not appear anywhere in the Chicago Data Portal—a city-run public web site that is supposed to be so accurate, the Chicago Police Department used its existence as an excuse to stop issuing annual reports to citizens after nearly 50 years.

After two armed robberies were reported in Emanuel's neighborhood this week, a CWB editor visited the city database to compare year-over-year robbery rates for that area.

He didn't get very far: "The robbery of the mayor's son was probably the highest-profile robbery in Chicago last year," he said, "Its absence screamed at me."
Tip of the hat to Crime in Wrigleyville and Boystown blog for this. They're the ones that pointed out that up to 20% of crimes were missing from Rahm and Garry's vaunted Data Portal and Chicago Magazine won an award for their two-part report detailing the falsification of crime stats.

But hey, Garry's eraser crew is still at it, doing their damnedest to get Rahm known as a caped crime fighting mayor.

Despite an increase in murders, on the eve of the election, have the major newspapers that endorsed Rahm toned down their crime reporting?

Rather a neighborhood blog with limited resources breaks another important story about the veracity of crime statistics.

A cynical person would conclude the powerful 1% editors are trying to hide the truth to influence the election.

They don't allow comments anymore.

Had to laugh at the department award ceremony the other day. Nice enough event and all, very family friendly. However the minute you put a microphone in front of the Supe it would seem he has to talk numbers. At this point it really sounds kind of pathetic like a constant attempt to justify his existence. There were no reporters there, or if they were they weren't asking questions, it was just cops and citizens. We all have our perceptions of crime based on living and working in this city, I don't care about statistical numbers.

I have five years on the job. My wife and I are moving out of Chicago. In June we are out of here. The expense, the high housing cost, the high property taxes, state income tax, quality of life and the weather. I am glad that this will be our last winter in Chicago.

We are going to move to Clermont, Florida. Clermont is a suburb of Orlando, Florida. I am on furlogh. We just closed on a house. A four bedroom, two bath, two car garage, 1500 square foot house for $145,000.

If you don't hae a lot of time on this job. Then seriously consider moving out of Illinois. The jobs and your future lay out of the Midwest. The Midwest is dying because of the high taxes, high expenses and low quality of life. Get out before the ship sinks. By the way, my next door is a retired Chicago copper from the 8th district.

Even more false stats? From the CTA website Tuesday:

"Last year’s systemwide statistics show:

>2014 saw the fewest serious crimes in the past four years
>Robberies – down 34 percent
>Thefts – down 26 percent
>Serious crimes – down 26 percent"

I'd like to believe the above, but those huge drops sound almost too good to be true.

If you got clout it's different but then again those with clout never go before the board and if by chance it happens they fet saved...... Remember you are just a number, and employee number, nothing more nothing less, because you can't be less than zero. In fact I am now calling for an official petition for the changing of the Chicago Police Department motto from " we serve and protect" to " less than zero".........

Facebook isn't anywhere near as secure as you want to believe. I've accidentally gotten access to 'restricted' pages and info several times and I'm not a computer person.
Other sites have far less security on them, which makes them easy targets.
These companies have professionals with expertise in harvesting information and if it's there, or was there, it will be found.

A friend was down in Florida around 25 or so years ago on vacation. He already had time in here but asked a Florida State Trooper how much they made. That was when the Florida State guys wore those straw southern brim hats and drove Mustangs with hot engines. $13,000 a year Sir the trooper replied. My friend said he told the trooper, "I steal more than that!" I can believe he said that, it was a very funny line at the time. Unless you go there with an income you better be wealthy.

It is going around HQ that the old Area 5 is going to be opened again with a few teams of hgs teams so they are closer to the west side.

Maybe in Rahm's world it wasn't a mugging - it was merely a redistribution of iPhones from the upper class to those in need. The only crime from a progressive government's point of view is that no administrative palms were greased during the transaction, and nobody needed to hire a worthless kid, sibling or brother-in-law because of the "increased workload."
