Um...Dumb Dumb?

  • Just hours before the election, mayoral challenger Bob Fioretti — the outgoing alderman of the 2nd Ward — was assuring reporters he wanted to see the “anybody but Rahm” movement stick, regardless of which candidate ended up in a runoff with the mayor.

“All of us that were challenging this administration had one goal: to replace the mayor,” he said. “I hope we can all come together, sit down right after the election, and then make a united front against this administration, and the way this city’s been going.”

After it was clear Garcia would be the one facing Emanuel in a runoff, Fioretti issued a nebulous statement about any possible endorsement.

“I will not make a decision until I think about which candidate will help move Chicago forward,” he said. “We need someone that can make tough choices in the next months and years.”
There's so much waffle in that statement that Fioretti ought to think about opening up a breakfast joint and start slinging hash-n-eggs to go with it.

And that's why he only received 7%. Bob can now fade into obscurity with his creepy looking face.

Although I voted for him, it was always clear that Fioretti's interest level was less than encouraging. There was never any evidence of 'fire in the belly'. This endorsement thing doesn't surprise me, but does greatly disappoint me. He may be trying to force Garcia to offer him a position of some relevance, in exchange for his endorsement.

Still, I don't feel I threw my vote away, because any vote not for Rahm was a good vote. Now, though I don't find Garcia an outstanding choice, I will still vote against Rahm, who I think is a vile cancer on our city.

I originally thought Fioretti would be the best replacement for the little prick but as the campaign went on, I became more firmly ensconced in the "anyone but rahm" camp.

This spinelessness on his part shows clearly just who he is:Fiortti for Fioretti.

He fucking lost his election and is now without a job. He has nothing to loose with regards to a constituancy.

Oh, wait,....he doesn't have a job.

Maybe if he joins the camp of who he believes to have the best cahance to win, will throw him a bone.

All politicians are only in it for themselves.

Ahhh... so sad to see Fioretti speak like a double-tongued chief. He is not a leader in my eyes. He is not a warrior for the good of the people.

His words were not iron, and he disappointed our tribe.

Where can we find real leadership here? Too many winters have passed and we still see phony chiefs with all talk and no action policies.

McCarthy is another chief who must go. He must go on the Walk of Shame - out the door.

Ten Bears has spoken. So it shall be.

Don't kid yourself. They are all LIARS. Local, county, state, federal, all of them. What is it about political office that turns people into such blatant liars? Probably because someone who is truthful about anything has absolutely no chance of getting elected these days. And we wonder why only a third of Americans bother to vote.

What that means in political speak is this: Fioretti will sit down with Garcia. Fioretti will ask for "favors" and if Garcia wins then Fioretti will start a company and that specific company will get city business. Also his staff will get jobs. Very good paying jobs at that. It's the way politicians conduct business.

Early on I liked Fioretti. I was hugely disappointed with the campaign, or lack thereof, that he ran.
I then saw the Rahm campaign attacking Chuy in earnest.
I knew then that Rahm saw Chuy as his only threat.... that alone caused me to vote for Chuy.

For Fioretti to make such a wishy washy comment is ridiculous.

Just waiting to see who will promise him the better spot if they get elected. Typical Chicago politician bullshit, no balls or morals. Just like your average city employee, go out and get signatures for some bullshit democrat "DUH he said if I help him, DUH he gonna take care of me DUH". I can't tell you how many of these mindless schlepps I have come across over the years, major reason why this city is a crap hole.

Yes and Wilson will not support the mayor until he ends all red light cameras( yes, a money maker but how would Wilson replace the money from the cameras), reopen all closed schools ( great idea but how would Wilson balance the schools budget which will be 1 billion short this year?), hire 1000 cops ( great idea ) but how would he pay for it? All lovely things but in reality Chicago is broke and if the city goes under so will your pension. There is a movement in Springfield right now by democrats to change the state constitution so they can tax pensions. And, they are gearing up for a constitutional convention when available to end the clause which prohibits reducing pensions. The movement is on and it will effect working and retired.

Simple. We start living within our means and stop flinging money out the window like there's a printing press in the basement.

Then, we get a casino and we use the casino profits exclusively to fund our pensions until the deficits are paid in, then use them primarily to keep them funded, using any extra for City infrastructure.

And, to 10:06am, this city is far from broke. Just because TIF monies are diverted from the regular budget, it doesn't mean they don't exist. We really need a Federal mandate to comingle the TIF monies in the regular budget and then you'll see this city is rolling in cash.

I can't stand Rahm. He hates the police and was part of the evil Clinton and Obama regime. He had no right to be Mayor due to residency. However, I cannot in good conscience vote for anyone that demonstrates against the police, cheats on taxes, and does dirty deals to get his criminal son an attorney. I want to know why anyone think Chuy's going to make our pension payment and be good to the police? If you saw Rahm's entourage on election night that consisted of Bobby Rush, Jessie White, and led by Louis Gutierrez, Rahm will win. The black vote will go to Rahm. Louis will get Rahm votes from hispanics. I have voted in every election since 1971. I hate to miss an election so this time I think I will have to write in my cat.

This is why I voted against Fioretti. He was an obvious Machine plant to split the vote and get rahm re-elected. I swallowed hard and voted for the anti-police and known communist, Garcia. When Rahm is out, we can work on getting the next communist out. We don't let them stay in long and soon a real candidate will be able to come forward.

Don't do it, brother. Vote for the lesser of the two evils. Vote for Garcia just to get Rahm out and then work on getting Garcia out the next election. If they all know that they'll be tossed out on their asses, it may help. Only 30% of us are voting, so our votes do count.

Not that simple. Government will never live within their means and reduce benefits for the giveaway programs.
Casino will never fund our pensions. Any talk about Chicago having a pension always included all profits would go to education, you know for the children.

You are wrong. Rahm is the one who insisted profits would have to go 'for the children'. But it isn't true any talk, as in all talk, about casino profits was solely dedicated to education. It's been floated several times as a resource for different funds.

To the commenters who seem to feel the city is dependant upon the speed and red light camera revenue:
Are you (or I daresay we) so Orwellian 1984 that you've forgotten speed cameras are only two years old and red light cameras ten at best, and only in a few locations? Fucking sad. And scary.
