6 More Shot

  • A 4-year-old girl was one of at least 6 people hurt Wednesday in separate shootings on the South, Far South and West sides, officials said.

In the latest shooting, the girl was shot in the arm and was taken to Comer Children's Hospital where the child's condition had stabilized, according to Chicago Fire Department officials and Chicago police.

The shooting happened at about 8:15 p.m. on the 5900 block of South Peoria Street, police said.

The shooting happened inside a home and the child appeared to have been accidentally shot by a family member, police said citing preliminary information. Two guns were recovered from the home.
She might even keep full use of the arm.

Who the fuck cares anymore. Let the politicians/lawyers/ACLU figure it out. They are smarter than everyone else.

I remember not too long ago when a child of 5 or ten was shot was uncommon. If it did happen, it was so shocking the neighborhood was a part of the crackdown that it prompted.

So what happened, eh McSreetlights, Rahm?

IF he's staying, and I still don't think he is, it's probably because he knows the truth about the Emanuel kid's 'battery' incident.

No. I have noticed that grammar skills have declined recently. Are you really dumb enough to believe that the illegal shootings in this fine city have some connection to people lawfully carrying concealed weapons? Have shootings "went way up" in the rest of the state? The only thing that will increase due to concealed carry is the number of incidents involving citizens legally shooting criminals who were previously able to prey on them without fear of being shot. That's a good thing. If a criminal has to worry that his potential victim might be packing, that criminal might be less likely to victimize that person. If he chooses to take his chances, maybe he gets shot, and society wins.

Fear not! Napoleon and McCompstat have a master plan.... the 10 hour day.
You see they'll eliminate an entire shift by doing this .
It stands to reason that if "crime is down to record levels" with our already decemated and understaffed dept. then further cutting manpower will drive crime even lower!
Morale and officers well being be damned. Get on board or get out of the way.

Was it the big bad Policeman that shot the 600 + people this year. Where is the outcry. Where is the marching and public outcry. Jesus Christ, "Black Live s Matter!!" Oh...... I guess that battle cry doesn't exist when your own people are committing a level of genocide on their own people. I'm sick of these bullshit FAKE CARING individuals who only care if the shooter has insurance and deep pockets.

I'll give Emanuel a 1/2 point for this: He tried to get the Illinois Legislature to establish a mandatory 3 year sentence for illegal gun possession. Of course the Black Caucus screamed MASS INCARCERATION ! PRISON-INDUSTRIAL COMPLEX ! Blah, blah, blah.... and he backed down. Couldn't alienate the black vote too much.

Maybe this dipshit family member who shot someone's little girl would have been behind bars for a previous gun conviction ? Thank you Black Caucus of Springfield and the activists you are beholden to.

I heard that on the news this morning and sent a silent 'thank you' to that woman. She recognized her kid on the screen and she took him to police to turn himself in.

Firearm is a deadly weapon. Lot of people can't handle the responsibility. Hell, they can't even cross the street properly. Red light with "turning cars" warnings activated means it's time for you to wander on out there into a major intersection, looking down and messing with some electronic thing, and then start m/fing the drivers who barely miss you. This is every day.

Think of it as evolution in action...species have disappeared before, you know.

It gets better.

Thieves fry Kenya's power grid for fast food -- Vandals smash electrical transformers to steal viscous fluid that's later sold as cooking oil for roadside stalls.

28 Dec 2014 11:16 GMT

"Nairobi, Kenya - The morning scene is increasingly routine for Kenyans. When it's time to start the day, the power is already out. Somewhere nearby, the shell of a wrecked electrical transformer lies on its side underneath the pole where it had been fixed seven metres off the ground.

"The culprit is an unusual one: A vandal who is selling the toxic oil, drawn from the transformer, to chefs who use it for frying food in roadside stalls. Five litres of the viscous, PCB-laden liquid sells for $60. It looks like cooking oil, but lasts much longer, users say.

"Kenyans' appetite for fried food and cheap frying oil is stalling the country's urgent efforts to build a modern electrical grid, even as it sows the seeds of a public health crisis, experts say.

"And with utility companies reporting similar vandalism across East Africa and as far away as South Africa and Nigeria, the crime spree is becoming another thorn in ambitious plans to electrify Africa.

"Sudden blackouts darken businesses and communities across Africa. In a continent where 70 percent of Africans are not yet connected to grid electricity, the World Bank says even those manufacturers who do have a connection lose 56 days a year, on average, to blackouts.

"Consumption of PCB-laden chips poses a health risk to Kenyans in a country where health services are already underfunded and doctors are in short supply."

Polychlorinated biphenyl transformer oils are a highly toxic, synthetic, industrial product never intended for human consumption. I believe they've been banned here, in favor of safer substitutes.

Like whipping up home fries in a big pan of Mobil 1 -- but worse. Horrible, horrible.

Boykin is an idiot. The mayor isn't ignoring all the violence and shootings. He has VRI, they have loaded the high crime districts with po's while under staffing other districts. Whats he supposed to do to keep these idiots from shooting and killing each other? I know hire more police, doesn't matter if po's are working OT or VRI , adding a few more police wouldn't change anything, only cut OT and VRI
