Laugh of the Day

Sorry, but we dislike the Lincoln Park Pirates almost as much as we dislike Rahm. Anytime someone gets one over on these assholes, it's a good time:

Now that's some funny shit.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but, aren't there a couple of violations here that the tow truck is committing? If a person is on scene before they leave, don't they have to drop the car (in this case, they literally did!!)? Also, you can't tow the car with someone in it, right? And was this towed off the street? Private tow companies can't tow off the street.

These tow companies are dirty as the day is long too. A guy from 019/023 had his car taken from the street by a tow company. They drove it through a private lot to say that the car was illegally parked in that lot, and claimed the gps put the truck and car in the lot at that time. Fucking thieves.

People always park in that Walgreens lot and try and go grab food from Portillo's. Nice to see one guy was able to make good on his escape.

The Asshole Tow Companies are not supposed to tow if the owner is present. That tow truck firm should be cited. And that incident made the national news, so the whole world can see "Chicago Values".

You're correct. If a private tow truck hasn't left the lot and the owner returns, he needs to drop it. He's also supposed to conduct an inspection of the vehicle for people or pets. If either are in the car, he can't tow it. I doubt either of those happen on a regular basis.

RSI is just as bad. I work in 020 and there are always jobs at both 2019 Rascher and 4882 Clark.

LIQ both addresses and you'd see both are in the top 5 addresses for service in the district. I'd say all the locations for both are just as busy

On State in front of the Hertz office, where Rossi's is across the street, one day I'm walking up the side walk and I see those private tow truck drivers towing car after car one after the other. I can't recall if it was expired meters or a time of day restriction, but those scumbags were right there ready to pounce, pummeling the people who parked there with $100+ fines.

This was before the meter deal. This city is so sleazy in the way it screws visitors and citizens on parking.

I remember when there were still meters and the stickers on the meters that showed the time frame you had to pay, in streeterville, evey fucking one of them had the time rubbed out on the sticker, so you didn't know what time you no longer had to pay.

Who would of done something like that? Kids? Cops? Certianally, not parkers. I don't think it was any of the above. I think It was the towing companies, possibly Daley himself.

Tow driver has to set that car back down if driver is on scene to remove the vehicle. Many are so crooked they drive off with the owner still in the vehicle! Wasn't there an incident a few years back where a tow thief drove off with a car that had kids in the back while the parent ran in to pick up something from a store???

C'mon gang bangers need legit jobs too to launder their other profits. Leave the Tow trucks alone.

Yaknow some of the douche bags actually think they are emergancy vehicles with scanners and spot lights they break every traffic law in the book speed to the next $100.

Thank you to the shit head coppers who empowered them by taking their money.

Apart from being once-great Democrat controlled shitholes, another point of congruence between Chicago and Boston. Private companies here can legally (or at least are allowed to/get away with) towing vehicles off of public streets if the tow driver thinks that the vehicle is in violation. Now some asshole getting towed away from blocking a fire hydrant or other actual problems, sure, but tow pirates (love the term) here do stuff like hauling off vehicles because "it was too close to the curb" or similar shitheadedness. Is this system ever abused? No, of course not! /sarc.

Getting your car back is an adventure in and of itself. Cash only, after you make your way through the dirt lot with kidnapped vehicles randomly strewn about ("Hey buddy, your car had a dozen fresh dents and scratches on it when we picked it up!"). Getting into the office to pay your ransom is an interesting exercise, if you are an amateur anthropologist with interest in primitive bandit societies: negotiate your way around the smoking barbeque/barely controlled grease fire surrounded by three unwashed hirsute balding men groping a giggling, morbidly obese woman with unflattering tattoos. Not that I'm bitter or anything.

I heard a guy screaming at a Lincoln tow truck driver on Clark at Ainslie one night. The guy pulled off of Ainslie onto Clark and cut in front of the tow truck so he couldn't move without backing up into traffic. The guy actually convinced the tow truck driver to get out and take a look at his dash because he had the correct residential parking permit displayed after all. The driver saw it and said "Sorry man, I didn't see it, pull out of the way and I'll drop your car."

The guy pulled off to the side and then the Lincoln truck sped up the block and pulled the car in behind the gate and into their lot. The guy had to pay to get his car back because he couldn't afford to sue them for a wrongful tow. Asshole gang bangers win again.

I once had a huge laugh at the expense of Lincoln Towing outside of their lot at 4882 N. Clark. I was walking by when one of their thugs was pulling up with a huge shiny new looking stretch limo in tow. Then another one of their trucks pulled out into traffic to block off Clark so that the guy pulling the limo could swing into oncoming NB traffic and make a very wide turn into the lot in order to clear the back end of the limo past the building on the turn. The truck pulled the turn but didn't swing the rear of the limo over far enough and slammed the side of the brand new limo into their building and dragged it along their concrete wall while he towed it into the lot. The sound it made was horrendous, and the whole street full of traffic saw it! There were massive pieces of the limo laying everywhere and the old guy thug who runs the booth came out with a shovel and quickly tried to scoop up all of the pieces so that they could try and play stupid when the owner arrived. They probably did $5K worth of damage to the body of that limo in less than five seconds! I hope the owner got at least double paid out to him out of their insurance policy!

Cite the tow truck drivers in your district--ANOVs, movers and parkers--and you will get them in line on your crash scenes and otherwise. They will keep dropping the names of the goofballs in your district who inexplicably are buddies with them, but proper enforcement works.
