Rahm Running as a Crime Fighter

  • Through the first three months of 2015, homicides in Chicago have risen over the same period last year, though they have remained close to levels from four years ago, when Mayor Rahm Emanuel was elected.

Most of the violence continued to affect large swaths of the South Side and West Side, even as the city went through a cold and snowy winter.

Through Monday, the city recorded 78 homicides, about a 26 percent increase over the entire three-month period last year, when there were 62, Chicago Police Department statistics show. There was also about a 13 percent rise since 2013, when there were 69 from January through March.

[...] Shootings rose by about 40 percent during the first three months of this year, according to the statistics. Through Monday, there were 355 shootings, compared with 253 through all of March 2014.
40% rise in shootings, 26% increase in killings.

Yeah, let's re-elect this guy! He's doing great!

Oh, and that debate on WTTW tonight, with Phil Ponce as the moderator - a page taken from Axelrod or Hollywood, take your pick. Phil Ponce attacking Garcia, limiting Garcia to less than half the minutes given to Rahm and Phil just happens to be one of Rahm's neighbors!

Phil Ponce asking the question about Chuy's son was definitely NOT a first for Chicago Media.

With the audience booing and even Rahm saying it was a low-blow type question, ALL Chicago Media take note: Are ANY of YOU perfect?

How many of you have DUIs? Any Wife Beaters out there? How much plastic surgery have you had?

Would LOVE to do an interview with you. Call me.

More proof that compstat is pure nonsense.... unless you count the entire devastation of the rank and file a success.

When is the last time you saw a police office doing something in your neighborhood?

Districts closed down with the promise of no cuts in manpower to those Districts? C'mon! Pure nonsense that the Mayor and his puppet of a Superintendent expect you to believe.

NYT recently ran a short piece on cooking books and referenced Chicago crime stat manipulation, in addition to China's manipulation of car crash death stats. According to an expert at the London School of Economics, "A performance metric is only useful as a performance metric as long as it isn't used as a performance metric."

I am not sure anyone who is mayor could do better. Chicago has systemic problems that go back a long way. I do think that the mayor should hire more cops, at least 2 to 3 hundred more this year. But, Garcia? He does not have a clue and would do more harm then good in the mayor's office. Nice Guy? Sure. Liberal,? For sure. But, Little Village has been a bastion of official corruption since the Hispanics took over. Drug money opened many of the businesses in the neighborhood. The taverns, lounges and liquor stores all serve minors and no one says a word about it. The alderman ( at least in the past) have interests in the night clubs in the area and they are protected. There are more minors ( mostly girls) in those clubs then adults.

"Sounds more like we need to get rid of some soft on crime judges."

Illinois is so broke that there is some pressure upon judges not to sentence criminals to prison because the state cannot afford to house and feed the bums. Many convicts are not serving complete terms and many deserving of hard time are being placed on probation or into alternative sentencing programs.

Crime is up, homicides are up, police hiring is extremely short coincidence? The "New kids on the block" being hired are scared to do anything, but cannot blame them who will support you? Lose your freedom, your home, your family, your pension! Fo what for some scumbag thug, the new coppers at least most are going in with eyes wide open reading the state of policing! Ferguson, New York, etc who supports police honda their jobs? Not the elected! Not the scared bosses! Not the fop (silent dean say something, speak out what about the pension?), the media along with the elected have allowed this to happen, the blood is on their hands, but as a copper and many other coppers say "we are the game but you sure can't play us" I will support other coppers, I will back everyone up, I will write reports, but I will follow the rules no more of policing that the boss says "don't worry got your back" put it in writing!

Notice the implicit biased message of this article. Coming from the Chicago Tribune, it's no surprise - and it's not written this way by accident: the parts of Chicago really worth protecting from crime are the "South Side and West Side". It's this sort of arbitrary propaganda, year after year, decade after decade, that's created the intractable insanity that now exists.

Teen who got heart transplant dies in crash during police chase

April 01, 2015 Associated Press

"ATLANTA – An Atlanta area teenager who said a heart transplant two years ago gave him a second chance at life died this week when he lost control of the car he was driving while fleeing police, according to police records.

"Anthony Tremayne Stokes, 17, died Tuesday when the car he was driving hit a bank sign, a Roswell police officer wrote in an incident report. The officer noticed the black Honda Accord fit the description of a vehicle involved in a home invasion a short time earlier, the report says. The officer tried to pull the car over, but the driver refused to stop, the report said.

"The car had also been reported stolen in a carjacking in nearby Dunwoody earlier Tuesday, the report says.

"In August 2013, local news media quoted Stokes' family as saying that doctors at Children's Healthcare of Atlanta at Egleston refused to put Stokes on a transplant waiting list because of his troubled past and their belief he wouldn't comply with the strict plan for medication and follow-up treatment.

"Stokes, who was 15 at the time, needed a new heart because he suffered from dilated cardiomyopathy. The news media reports at the time quoted the mother as saying that her son would likely die within six to nine months without a new heart.

"The hospital said in statements at the time that transplant evaluations are an ongoing process and that doctors were working with the family on a care plan. But it quickly reversed course and agreed to put Stokes on the list. He received a heart transplant on Aug. 21, 2013.

"Just over a month later, Stokes told a reporter with WSB-TV in Atlanta that the transplant would help him stay out of trouble.

"So I can live a second chance. Get a second chance and do things I want to do," Stokes told the television reporter.

"Roswell police said they believe Stokes is the person wearing a mask who forced open the carport door of a home Tuesday afternoon and left once he realized an 81-year-old woman who lived there was home. Police believe he was fleeing that house when the chase began.

"Stokes had also been arrested in January and charged with possession of tools for the commission of a crime and criminal attempt, according to DeKalb County court records. He was released from jail a few weeks later after posting $5,000 bond."

Hey Mary Oconnor quit posting the negative lies and bullshit about Anthony Napolitano. If you are going to post something get your facts straight. Anthony Napolitano, the Republican endorsed candidate in the 41st Ward at no time asked seiu for money. They did a buy of $18,000 of tv time Mary Oconnor against you, because you are a shit candidate. You voted with Rahm 98% of the time, voted as ordered for the water sewer hikes, red lights etc. If Rahm stopped fast, they would have to pull you out of his ass. Further Napolitano has been endorsed by FOP Lodge 7, CFD Local 2, CPD Sergeants Union, Chicago Police Marine Corp, Chicago Teachers Union and others. In addition he is supported by PAPA Mary. You have tried everything Mary, from stealing 100s of Naps signs, intimidating business owners on NW Hwy who had his signs up, including Mike Jettner and others. Also Mary when did you take down the sign on your office window, if you need LINK, inquire inside. By the way Mary you looked very angry in the WTTW debate with your bosses neighbor Phil Ponce, we appreciate how you came across. Getting back to the issue of Brian Doherty, I know you don't like him slot. But he is not the campaign manager Mary, the manager is Brian Koppe. Maybe you got them mixed up, further Doherty will have no role when you lose. How does it feel Mary that after spending $200,000- $300,000 in this race, you only got 47% of the vote. Napolitano was outspent probably 6-1?? Before I forget the CPD and the CFD retirees are not going to be happy about your plan to take away the cola (3%) per year and replace it with the bullshit that you and Rham did to the other municipal workers. May I remind you Mary that city retirees were promised the 3% annual bumps and in spite of them paying their fair share, you want them to lose it. Napolitano wants the 3% restored and you and Rahm can take it out of the TIF funds, instead of giving it to his and yours campaign donors. Before I forget Mary, what about the $64,000 plus you took from the airport contractors and vendors, but refuse to call noise hearings? By the way the 64K was in the last 6 months!! Anyways that's about it Mary. I do know that I won't be voting for a part time Alderman, who has no respect for the public safety and city workers who live in 41 and pay taxes here. Since you rent a in law apartment here, it's easy to vote against the home owners, who actually ave a stake in the ward. I'm voting for Anthony Napolitano, who owns a house in the ward, pays taxes and will vote to protect our pensions, without stealing the COLA increases we are entitled too. So long Mary!

A call went out on facebook around noon, for a rush-rush, need some police at a press conference, appearance at 1400hrs today. Whoever showed up, showed up. Garcia had no control over that.

While I agree they all looked scruffy and the ones wearing the crown cap with sweats looked like idiots, this was NOT put together by Garcia, nor did he have any control over who showed up. The guy who did it is a retired guy who was just trying to help, but he needs to control the situation a little better.

Seiu is up set at Mary O'Connor for not voting on Rahms Minimum wage increase because she knows it would have a drastic impact on the Business of the 41st Ward. Pushing people to spend their money in the surrounding suburbs. Where business wont have to raise their prices because of doubling the pay of many of their workers. Also why is it FOP backs the firemen in elections but the firefighters union endorses and contributes to Arena over fellow police officer John Garrido for the 45th ward. Where's the brotherhood!
