cBS Discovers Drugs in Chicago

Maybe the organizers of RiotFest are having second thoughts?
  • [21 May 15] The new home of Riot Fest is already home to junkies, CBS 2 has learned.

A viewer said the park is littered with used hypodermic needles. And sure enough, that’s just what CBS 2 [...] found.

Those discarded needles are just feet from where children play. It took a news crew less than a minute to find the dangerous debris.
And a followup yesterday:
  • [26 May 15] Today, CBS 2 [,,,] returned to Douglas Park and found more needles in the park, but unlike last week when it took a day for Chicago Park District crews to pick up the needles CBS 2 reported, there were crews already on the lookout for the dangerous drug paraphernalia.

They are in the corners, in the crevices and on the ground mixed in with leaves: needles and empty baggies that once held drugs.

Today, Park District employees used gloves and a special receptacle to dispose of some of the debris.
This has been one of the biggest heroin spots in existence for decades, but cBS is just figuring this out now when a bunch of white people will be using the park for a music festival that produces a massive number of ...[irony alert!]... drug overdoses!

Good thing there are two hospitals within walking distance and four more just a stone throw away.

Hey, we were just wondering - did anyone over at the Parks waive the fees for RiotFest the way they just did for the NFL?

Dumb stroke of a city. Needles and Leaves....and the Park District didn't know about this till now. Get real. Maybe the hospitals should set-up a tent city to administrate to the ill and the ill-defined.

Seeing as how well the snitch boxes worked, it would seem like a good idea to nail the sharpie boxes that we see in doctor's offices and in some washrooms for the disposal of needles, onto the trees in the park.

Maybe the city could move Puerto Rican Fest over to Douglas Park. Better yet, why don't they have all the city fests in Douglas Park? It seems to be ok for the white suburban kids to have their fest their, then why not everyone else?

The NFL fees were waived and they received prime real estate for their fest.

Apparently white lives don't matter.

Here is the solution, pass a City Ordinance making it illegal to discard hypodermic syringes in the park. Then have signs made with a syringe in a red circle with a line through it, like the one for guns. Than put them up all over. That should take care of the problem soon enough dad gummit.

The *obvious solution* to ridding the Park grounds of being riddled with used needles -- which no one can deny is a *Public Health Hazard* -- is for *the city*....(get ready)....(ya'll better sit down).....(hold onto your wallets).... to build 'Heroin Huts' in the all Parks for Junkies to shoot-up in, and where they can also safely dispose of used needles and empty packs of heroin.

They don't have to be elaborate 'Huts', either. Just Four Walls, a Roof, Windows & Doors, Benches to sit on while they shoot-up, and Bio-Hazard Rated Trash Cans. Oh and a little Heat & Air Conditioning, Lighting & electricty with wall outlets, Plumbing with Mens Womens & 'Others' Bathrooms, Hot & Cold running water (with Showers in each bathroom), and a Wall Phone that only dials 9-1-1 --- needed for the occasional over-dose. Why I bet they wouldn't cost more than a mere $3,000,000 Dollars each.

After all, "It's For The Children", and nobody hates 'the children' right? So City Property Tax Bills will go up a bit, big deal. Just Think Of The Children!!! when you're writing that check and all will be a-okay!

See, problem solved. And I don't even work for the city. :-)

(sarcasm /OFF)

Your wish is my command --

Puerto Rico exports its drug addicts to Chicago -- Island police and mayors direct heroin addicts to Chicago and other cities with promises of housing and treatment.

April 10, 2015

Adriana Cardona-Maguigad

"It all started about a year ago when I began noticing more homeless men in the Chicago neighborhood where I work. Back of the Yards is a community that faces some of the city’s toughest problems: joblessness, crime, drug use.

"Many of these men would be sitting in doorways or shuffling along, many times asking for money.

"One day, I asked one of them: “Where are you from?” He told me a story that I later heard again and again and again.

"The men told me they were from Puerto Rico. They were addicted to heroin and they ended up in Chicago because someone in Puerto Rico drove them to the airport and put them on a plane with a one-way ticket to Chicago.

"They were promised a great rehab place, with over-the-top services and plenty of medical staff. One of them is Angel, a short and dark-skinned man. He’s missing most of his top teeth. He said he came to Chicago from Puerto Rico seven years ago for help kicking a heroin addiction.

“Somebody told my family is one rehab in Chicago got nurse, got pool, got medication, when I get here I no see nothing,” he said.

"Angel said that when he landed in Chicago he was met at the airport and taken to a place that definitely had no pool. That place didn’t have social workers or doctors. Instead, it was just a rundown building with other addicts trying to stay clean, sleeping on dirty mattresses on the floor, going cold turkey.

"Other guys told me something that was hard to believe. They said that it was the police in Puerto Rico who had driven them to the airport and put them on the plane to Chicago..."

Looking around the city with all the freebies that we pay for, it's like an invasion, been living in Garfield ridge 39 years the last 2 have been trying! More section 8 designed by the elected to destroy once clean nice tax paying areas! What's going to happen as people who can leave who pays the bills? Alderman Burke, Alderman Quinn sliced up the area, butchered the 23rd ward so they obviously could try to obtain the Caucasian votes, Alderman Zalewski was stretched all the way to Kedzie, what gives? This is like when we lived in the old 14th ward and it "changed" around 53rd and Halsted Visitation Parish, and the real estate broker came in and told the white people you will not have your house insurance renewal in this area a process called "Red Lining" people moved in droves, drive around that area totally destroyed few if any taxes being paid, why not Keep section 8 there? The government pays high section 8 rent in Garfield ridge and now mount greenwood areas why not follow "if you can't afford it you don't get it" but then again government produces nothing but the heavily burdened taxpayers pay and pay! The companies renting these section 8 homes hmm wonder if they are doing it "the Chicago way?" 📩

Dirty Needle Douglas Park is just four blocks away from the black ops epicenter for CPD’s top tier grade “A” gangbusters, undercover narcos and the most cerebral intel unit. Lots of talent, but little initiative to stop drug distribution, sales and use in and around Collins H.S., Johnson Elementary and Chalmers Elementary Schools. I would say the park is within 1000ft of any of these schools so those statutory penalties are enhanced. And about 2000 feet from OCD headquarters. What a joke!!!

A mile east of the location is the federal arm of what is considered law enforcement or the FBI at Leavitt and Roosevelt. Need I say more. They are a fucking joke too. They drive up and down Roosevelt with their blinders on oblivious to the hand to hand transactions and chorus of gangland gunfire. They are not interested since they can’t bag a police officer doing dirt or prosecute a police officer for some nonsense dealing with swivel rights after taking action to address crime and disorder.

This park is located across from the 011th District which is arguably the nation’s largest open air market for crack cocaine, heroin and reefer. Don’t forget Safe Haven rehab on the corner of California and Roosevelt Road. This H.U.D. financed housing includes numerous addicts and assorted criminals who reside conspicuously across the street from a public grammar school. Its way too convenient for clean, sober, recovering publically subsidized addicts to buy a bag of China White brand heroin on Roosevelt, go into the shadows of Douglas Park, cook up the product and then do that much needed relief from a mainline jab and emerge from the shadows into the real world. And leave their Hepatitis C and HIV infected rigs behind for curious children to play with.

Where is the outcry from parents of these schools whose children who want to play in a safe park not some junkies paradise? Inner city parents should march on city hall, the county building and Washington DC to get their voices heard. Lots of failed government on so many levels putting the fragile eggshell schoolchildren at risk with lots of exposure to junkies, hypes, drug dealers, drug addicts and the like when they commute to and from school and when they seek refuge in the park from the violent inner city neighborhoods which a compassionate government spawned.

One has to ask where are those Park district employees who routinely inspect and maintain the grounds. Is it just a paycheck or are they too lazy to care. I'm sure they would point fingers at the police, but how can a Park District employee disregard the safety of the children with obvious drug paraphenalia littering green mother earth?

There is any collection of Puerto Rican addicts proliferating in the area of Washtenaw and Cermak also relocated here via a useless U.S. possession. All collect public assistance and conveniently are on Section 8 in a scam by a few landlords. Its awful, the 010th District has been overwhelmed by this shiftless consuming crime population. Its like a Mariel boatlift courtesy of Puerto Rico to the Second City.

Phony "AA" Buildings in Chicago Used in Abusive Rehab As Puerto Rico Ships Its Addicts Here

"I asked Carlos, one of the first guys I heard the story from, to show me the rehab place where he ended up."

Finally, I saw a tiny sign in an upstairs window. It was a version of the AA logo.

"The first time I tried to visit, I went through a narrow doorway and up a steep staircase. At the top was an open room. Men were hanging around, smoking cigarettes."

"I called the headquarters of Alcoholics Anonymous; a representative there said they have nothing to do with these rehab places."

"Addicts sleep there, eat there and they are not supposed to leave for the first three months. Drive along parts of Western or Cermak in Chicago and you’ll see the buildings. Most of them have ‘24 hours’ written in Spanish on their sign, next to an AA logo."

"I checked with Joseph Lokaitis, a public service administrator with DASA, the Division of Alcoholism and Substance Abuse under the Department of Human Services, but he said he had no idea that these unofficial treatment groups existed."

"I went to the city department of planning and development, which gives permits for residential drug treatment centers. They had no records."

"These facilities spring up now and then. They’re run by former addicts and they’re easy to fold up, move and relocate."

"He [Manuel] told me what a lot of other guys had — the ‘treatment’ there was mostly a lot of yelling and harsh behavior.

"When Manuel walked out, he left his ID and other documents. He said he tried to get them back, but was turned away."

http://www.orange-papers.org/forum/node/6460

Nice photos of the abandoned houses these people end up squatting in. "Rehab with doctors and nurses and a swimming pool," right. Anything to get them on that plane...
