CompStat Failing Everywhere

Not just in Chicago, where murders are up around 20%, but in New York, the birthplace of CompStat, where murders are up....20%:
  • The murder rate in New York City has spiked an alarming 20% in the first two months of the year, prompting NYPD brass to rethink strategy to curb the deadly trend.

Since Jan. 1, 54 murders have been recorded in the city, up nine from the same period a year ago, according to the grim stats released Monday.

Shootings have also climbed 20% — with 149 so far in 2015 compared with 126 in the first two months of 2014.

But overall, crime has dropped 11% in most major crime categories, including burglary, robbery, rape, grand larceny and auto theft.
Murders and shootings are up, but "...overall, crime has dropped..." Now where have we heard that? Almost monthly? Like clockwork? It's like they're all reading from the same playbook.

Well it is a little hard to bury the number of murders and shootings.

All other crimes can be reclassified.

Sadly, when I first read the article I was mistaken. I saw the numbers of 54 murders, and 149 shootings since January 1st. I thought they were talking about Chicago, and my initial thought was "no way those numbers are right! That low and were already in the 5th month of the year!"

Go figure, they weren't our cities numbers- just the numbers of a city THREE TIMES OUR SIZE!
Anyone know off the top of their head where we stand in comparison?

COMPSTAT, like Global Warming, are two of the biggest frauds perpetrated on the taxpayers. Their sole purpose is to relieve said taxpayers of their money. Snake oil has always been offered and always been bought by the gullible.

Stop buying it.

Yeah but nothing is going to change. Garry will still be here collecting that big check and going for boat rides with known mob associates like Simon. Change is needed but not going to happen.

That's because murder is the one stay you cannot apply some word game to and change the classification. "Oh you say you don't remember locking the door? And you didn't see anyone actually take your purse? Well here's your lost property report"...when there's a body riddled with bullets it's murder...period. Everything else is subject to, well, comstat

The news article you are looking at is from 3 March 15. As of last Sunday New York has 96 murders in 2015 compared to 90 in 2014. That is a 6.7 percent increase. Chicago on the other hand has a 22 percent increase 111 murders in 2015 compared to 91 in 2014 for the same time frame as New York. Chicago has 2.7 million residents and New York has 8.5 million residents. Now ask yourself which city is safer.

It's an old, but very informative article by Tucker Carlson.

D.C. Blues

http://www.unz.org/Pub/PolicyRev-1993q1-00026?View=PDF

It's about how the D.C. police hired absolute bustouts as policeman and how NYPD hired, or at least promoted, straight down the list, resulting in an outstanding dept.

Yes, the end of "Terry Stops" in NYC probably has brought on a rise in violent crime. I think this is just the beginning of a crime increase in all categories. I am sure this attitude is coming to Chicago soon.

Well, you can't hide the dead people (except in Chicago) ...ala the Tiana Groves case.

Who in God's name charges someone with concealing a homicide--yeah right--those charged said she died of an overdose in Maywood, then they transported her body to Chicago where they bound her wrists with wire and tied her to a chair in an abandoned building.

I have always wondered WHY the murder rate is the "police s fault. A look at murder locations in any large city will show that the most murders occur in the inner city. The so called white neighborhoods have very few murders and are patrolled by the same police as the black neighborhoods.

police are also blamed for an increase in shootings, but, then they are criticized for making stops in an effort to get the guns off the street BEFORE they came be used in a shooting.

As the saying goes; "you can not make a silk purse out of a sow s ear.

Why isn't the culture of some groups brought into question as to the why s of this violence.

Jusr asking.

Monday The Commanders spend collecting data, Tuesday analyzing the collected data, Wednesday rehearsing for the meeting, Thursday the meeting, Friday ordered on the street. Every week is wasted let them command their unit. And Supt we were taught never ever embarrass your people in public, you violate that leadership rule constantly. Share the data your staff collects and if there is a problem call that CO in for a meeting. Your wasting everyones time every week

Compstat is a fraud perpetrated on the masses. When you control the data coming in and going out who is going to question you?

In an effort to lower crime rates police depts will reclassify crimes
(i.e. Burglary becomes theft from building)

Anyone who has been the police for any length of time knows crime is cyclical. Rates go up rates go down. It has nothing to do with compstat or who is the superintendant.

(OT) Just watched channel 7 news at 6, there were the trained seals clapping in the city council (alderthieves) as they awarded 5.5 MILLION of our tax dollars to the people that lied and accused a true patriot John Burge of torture, torture mind you that was never proven! How about they clap after they pay the police officers pension fund the 550 MILLION that is properly due, for the coppers that risk their very lives for citizens in this pathetic city!

Then chuck goudie has his I team report on the isis terrorists poised to strike in Illinois how about they the elected worry about beefing up the first responders and use resources and that 5.5 million to protect taxpayers, not give away our money to thugs then applauding these people wow!

LAPD Sgt. Here. Violent crime is up 26% in Los Angeles too. Doesn't help that the voters gutted our Three Strikes Law last year and also decriminalized dangerous drugs into low grade misdemeanors.

I see booking slips with Possession of Meth as misdemeanors with $100 bail. Unbelievable. A couple years ago the State of California start emptying out the prisons under "realignment" which means they dumped thousands of convicts back into the streets. It's like something out of a bad movie.

We're living in the world from "Blade Runner" out here now.

When more people are murdered, there are less people to report other crimes committed, such as burglary to their home, car, garage. And the victim who is now dead can't complain that they stole his wallet at gunpoint, too, before he got shot and killed. So overall crime does go down. Compstat- What a great program!
