Words Aren't Doing it Rahm

Typical leftist thinking - if we just talk about things, it'll all be rainbows and unicorns:
  • Promises made and promises still to be kept.

Violence continues to plague a South Side neighborhood, where exactly one year ago, civic and corporate leaders joined with elected officials, vowing to combat inner-city violence.

But in the area where that meeting took place, there have been nearly as many shootings already this year, as there were in all of 2014.
Nearly as many there - but way more elsewhere. In fact, hundreds of shootings ahead of last year citywide!
  • It has been two years since First Lady Michelle Obama came to Chicago to kick off a campaign that has since raised an estimated $40 million for anti-violence programs.

Yet according to the Chicago Tribune, less than 10 percent of that money has been put to work.

    Congressman Rush was asked why.
Well, we imagine someone stole the money. We mean, $40 million in donations just lying around with no oversight? What could possibly go wrong?!?!?

The good news is that it wasn't public funds that should have been going toward pensions or another crooked contract.

The gangs will continue to shoot each other because its all about dope money and turf. The gang bangers have no soul, they don't care who they hurt. No violence reduction program will stop the shootings.

AND I am sick and tired of people saying we need to bring in the National Guard. Who's going to pay for the occupation? Then what if a National Guard member tries to protect himself and shoots pookie ? Then you will have all the fake reverunds running around screaming racism.

The only thing that would put an end to the cycle of violence is cutting off the welfare inventive for mamma to have 5 kids and not work. Those kids get neglected and join the gangs, and the cycle continues !!!

Maybe someone should ask Gov. Quinn. He proved to be such a good steward of public money and in fact gave Chicago political class 50 million for anti violence programs, did he not? He must know where the money is?

MARCH!!

Organize a march over to city hall to fill out some FOID cards followed-upped by a march to Dick's Sporting goods if ya know what I'm sayin' /sarc.

Rahm goes after the gun manufacturers bankers to cut off their money and profits.

Meanwhile in Colorado the price of weed is crashing as Colorado goes after the gangs profits!!

How about that for a "war on drugs', dis-incentive to join a gang eh?

Chiraq refuses to legalize the drugs because the corruption is profiting from the drug culture.

Can you count the number of Hollywood movies based upon the violence here in Chiraq? It's a cash cow. It's a crisis that Rahm's Hollywood connections will not waste.

Time to show ALL the central casting charectors the door

Playing golf with his high school buddies on an overwatered golf course in drought ridden California. Couldn't he have taken the day to highlight good parenting and family values? Answer -- bottomless rathole. Pouring cupfuls of water on the Sahara desert sand.

Midnight basketball, "community centers," "mentoring..."

The eyes glaze over.

The money has been pocketed. Over and over again. (It's not like they rake it into piles and burn it.)

$40 billion -- one thousand times as much -- and things will continue to get worse.

Time to demand an accurate accounting.

ALL of it -- the vanished government grants, the government housing built and then torn down again, the costs borne by crime victims and by the criminal justice system, the vast expense of supporting and encouraging and feeding and caring for unlimited state-raised illegitimate births, the waste, theft, and vastly expensive and far-reaching ineffiencies introduced by "public policy" which suddenly elevates the grossly incompetent into jobs they are not qualified for and lack the mental capacity to perform properly, the time and belongings lost and unrecompensed money spent by poor working people who have been silently moving and moving and moving away from suddenly-dangerous "changing neighborhoods" for half of their lives -- ALL of it.

Starting, say, in the year 1964.

Then, perhaps, we can have the "dialogue" which so many affect to call for, and which so few are willing to actually engage in.

No law against "bolting when you see police car a block off, running like a motherf__er while holding your side."

We gonna get Baltimore here yet, my man. Powers that be INSIST on it.

Gives additional CrapStat figures to point at -- when it pleases them, otherwise minimize, downgrade crimes, ignore.

Excuses for crackdowns on the Normals -- you know, the people with one name and one address who you can actually find without ripping yet another set of pants jumping yard fences going after them in between five pits who've been panting under the hot back porch, waiting for this all day...

Rahm is all about appearances.

All this bullshit and "busyness..."

Jumping from one grand initiative/pronouncement to the next in
hope that you churls forgot about what he stood at the podium
speechifying about last week.

Like the hyper, feverish-minded child he was...
Just now, he has the ability to hurt people for real.

Never you mind all those photo-ops of him squinting
over some flunky's shoulder pointing assertively at some far away
God-Knows-What that only HE can see...

"There!
Right there Flunky!"

Flunky says:
"Uhhhh... Ohhhh Yeahhh Boss!
I see now!"

GTFOH!

You know...
That "man with a plan" bullshit.

The crazy here is eye-watering...

Either the funds are sitting in Rahm's tapped out campaign war chest, redirected to The Clinton Foundation or I expect Midnight Basketball is going to return by the end of summer.
Seems might-eee odd that 2 years goes by and that coin hadn't be earning a nickel of interest. Hmmm, Loop Capital surely didn't forget its top notch City insider clientele, did it?

It isn't about crime control; it's all about the punitive income from the fines.

All the political speeches and demonstrations and government grant money in the world CANNOT take the place of (two) parents who care, provide for and look after their children. This "baby-daddy" culture is perpetuating the dysfunctional cycle of poverty and violence. The most direct way to interrupt that cycle is to cut off the funds. Not all at once. Ramp them down 5%-10% a year every year for five years. People will improve themselves when there is no other way out. I have faith in that.

I think the 'study' is the myth (and, no, I'm not the original poster).

After experiencing my dad's career teaching in a west side school and living through my police career, my first-hand observation is about 20-25% of black households had the dad present. And a lot of households had more than one dad, but none of them were present in that family. (I'm not going to debate the why or the how, just stating this is what I observed.)

It's perfectly fine for you to have an opinion on the sometimes touchy subject of black fathers -- or what some people assume is the lack there of of them. You're assumption of the kids at your fathers school is a valid one, also. The thing is they are just that, assumptions and opinions. I grew up with out my father in the household, so by all accounts I'm sure people would think my father was "absent" also. But they'd be false. My father was very much apart of me and my little brother's life, he just wasn't married to my mother. That's what the study alludes to. Just because a black father isn't married to the mother of his child(or children), does not or is not able to go to a parent/teacher conference for report cards and such does not mean the father isn't present in a child's life. The "biggest problem" as the OP called it, isnt so much "big," but more so over-exaggerated.

And I wasn't being sarcastic with my first couple sentences. I do feel that you stated valid opinions that could be addressed.
