Another Shooting

  • A Chicago Police officer fatally shot a pit bull Friday evening in the Chatham neighborhood on the South Side.

About 8:30 p.m., the “aggressive” dog charged at the officer in the 8200 block of South Maryland, police said.

The officer then shot the dog and killed it, police said. The officer was not injured.
And this is a Sun Times story why?

That was the whole idea.

For any non coppers reading this blog, I'm positive I can speak for most officers and that we're all dog lovers. Most of us that have dogs have brought them home from work.

To the officer involved. I know you feel bad about it but it had to be done. The dog died being a good boy and doing what he thought was right. We should all be so lucky. All dogs go to heaven.

Best to wait until it loses one fight-for-cash-money too many, and the owner chains it to the back fence, slops gasoline on it, and sets it on fire.

Yes. Oh yes. Plenty of times.

Sorry to disrupt anyone's mental constructs, but there it is.

It's those "hard-hearted" coppers who will bring one of these home, get it fixed up, and give it a fun life with the family. Again, plenty of times.

Just A Citizen: Why is EVERYTHING LE's fault? What's next? Anytime someone gets gunned down (either due to bad aim or too much testosterone at age 9 or just plain "i'ma gonna get even" bullshit) some asshole can find a way to link it back to LE. Either you had their picture on some board somewhere, or you talked to them two weeks ago or some other feeble, lame-ass excuse. I am beyond sickened with the way this gaggle of goons in the WH is taking this country. Time to move to Alaska or somewhere else equally as remote.

Had a pit bull pup literally walk up to us out of nowhere once
when we were talking to a friend off duty... She screamed. Thought it was a rat.

We felt a bump at our ankle and looked down...
Tail just a waggin'.... Clothesline tied around his neck and about 10 feet
dragging behind... The end was chewed, naturally.

Tail still a waggin', he bumped our ankle again.
Then he walked away a short distance and came back.

Ankle bump again.
"Hey! Follow me... I got somethin' to show ya, ok?"

Oh yeah... He would've made the best pup ever.
They always do when they choose you.

Our friend said something about our Karma being right
for a critter to "ask" us to follow him.

If we didn't have a phobia about fleas, ticks and other no-see-ums
that can harbor diseases, we would've wrapped his cute ass up and
took him to a vet to be examined, tested, bathed and everything else
before taking him with us to his new forever home.

Not being able to take that little fella home still kinda tugs at
the ol' heart-strings.

Protect yourselves at all times
Officers. Two AND four legged mutts that need to be put down
abound.

9 times out of 10 a stray is a pit. The dog of choice for fighting, gangs angling and guarding the dope spot. You can't always tell how much "action" the dam thing has been a part of in its passed or how screwed up it is from abuse. Sometimes not until the thing just turns and attacks. Some bangers throw up rival signs then punch the dog in the face to train it to attack if they get jumped out on and those signs are thrown up. It's fucked up but they're out there roaming around like ghetto lions. Don't disregard the damage they can cause with those jaws

A dog can be a threat to life and limb just like anything else. SURVIVAL MATTERS. Hey - I love dogs and cats and bunnies... but if there were a pit bull threatening any one of those, wouldn't we all eliminate the threat ? Or would we all just wait for a No Guns Allowed poster ?

I live near a white trash area rather than a black trash area, and I know that the parolees around here keep pits so they don't have to have a gun, which would be an immediate ticket back to prison. The pits guard their dope stashes and meth labs and earn a little extra for them in dogfights. It's not rocket science that these dogs haven't been socialized - to the contrary, they have been abused into fearing a beating or worse from their owner if they don't attack an interloper. I'm not big on a lot of government regulation, but I would like to see parolees and felons not being allowed to own pit bulls or mixes as well as not being able to legally obtain a gun. It would be better for the dogs and the neighborhood.

I've always said that animals, kids, and old people are at top of most cops priority list. Protect the defenceless fist.

On a stakeout once where the cover could absolutely not be blown. A group of 5 or so teenage mutts were walking down the sidewalk and a kitten came out and did the pretty kitty thing. One the mutts reached down, scooped kitty up and flipped it into 3 lanes of traffic. I could have mowed them all down with a machine gun and not felt one bit of remorse. And people wonder why cops are how they act at times.

"The day after the pit bull that died in police custody was laid to rest, community activist Rev. Jamal Shabazz-Washington announced an 18 million dollar lawsuit against the city..."

People do this s__t while constantly affecting great astonishment at the police response to them hangin and bangin in general -- and every one of them gets huge, fawning media coverage on all channels for days and days, an immediate f___ing "community activist" and some alleged "Reverend," and an instant top-notch, pro bono lawyer that you or I could not put together in a million years.

And then the city begins to burn.

And then you have to dynamite all the 150-year-old war memorials, too. So as not to offend people who pee in your hallway and bust bottles all over the street.

This is the New Normal. Like a friend said, "This is the way it's going to be for the duration."

Paws up, don't shoot! Was it a black dog? Only reason i ask is i really like the Led Zeppelin song by that name. I'll bet this pit bull was just about to turn his life around after many years of being a vicious street thug. I'm sure he recently became an honor roll student attempting to get his GED , to provide for his illegitimate bitches from various litters he never paid child support to. i'll bet this murdering copper put a drop gun on the doggy before animal control arrived to process the scene.
