How Many Arrested? Hospitalized?

Sorry, but these numbers rival certain years of the Billiken parade and the Southside Parade:
  • To prepare for Lollapalooza weekend, Lurie Children's Hospital added extra staff and equipment to handle a higher patient load, based on past experience with the three-day music festival in Grant Park.

The Streeterville hospital treated 33 concertgoers mostly for alcohol and drug abuse over the weekend, said Dr. Walter Eppich, an attending physician in Lurie’s emergency department. Some of the teenagers were two to three times the legal alcohol limit to drive after mixing hard liquor with marijuana, ecstasy or cocaine, Eppich said.

[...] Thirty-four people were arrested and 238 concertgoers were sent to area hospitals during Lollapalooza, which was shortened by about an hour on Sunday after Grant Park was evacuated ahead of an afternoon storm.
At least no one got shot, right?

Really ?????

The news media only said they were transported because they were ill?

Even the media kills crime.

Were the promoters required to have private ambulances on hand to transport to hospitals? Worst case scenario, I'd imagine there's a much better chance of the city collecting ambulance fees from this group than Billiken.

The numbers may be similar but don't forget that Billikin is a couple of hours long while Loppoloza is three days long.

Great job as always by CPD, biggest major crime? The usual "Apple picking" look at the crowd guess most of the "Amish" behaved! Like the grateful dead concert same thing happy "Amish" people attended, spent lots of cash in food hotel transportation perfect!

With all the Great work CPD does you would think rahms would be all over media talking about CPD and would gladly fund the required by law police pension funds immediately! Wonder why not?

Mental reminder: Keep my own kids safe during Lalla weekend. God forbid my son (or any other legitimate person) needs the children's hospital.

These idiots who are intentionally overdosing with drugs & drinking till their blood alcohol levels are toxic, fuck it up for the rest of us by pulling resources for legitimate needs.

But I guess this is the Chicago we are stuck with. Rahm wants Lolla here for the attention it brings him as a "chill mayor" among the hipsters.

It should be noted that the Beyonce is one of the big money contributors to the radical hate based-we want dead cops mantra #blacklivesmatter organization.

Both can be fatal; both can be survivable. Thank God (and the people on earth to helped) that there were no fatalities at Lolla this year.

Was one report that kids were "geocaching" booze in the venue a week beforehand. Dig a hole, bury your 120-proof s__t, and make it a "waypoint" on the GPS.

Just like the Riotfest story, Humboldt Park, ofc. saw police with metal detectors dipping around the shore of the lagoon and coming up out of the mud with guns in Ziploc bags.

Gotta weld all the manhole covers down for these things now, like when the Prez comes through? S__t.

Ever catch the one with bolt cutters looking for a spot to breach the chain-link on LSD side of Lolla, with about 50 ready to follow through the gap? "Escape TO Stalag 17."

Aw hell. Everyone has been on a detail. Big crowds always make extra work -- but most of the bad happens around the periphery later at night after it's over. 70 Red Liners hanging around (were never in there in the first place) and will not leave, etc. Fence-jumper here, fight there, sidewalk inspector didn't quite make it to the train, etc. All quickly and expeditiously handled.

Not my personal cup of tea -- old enough now that I don't know all the current bands, etc., but hope that majority of our peaceful visitors to our city had a great time hearing what they liked and had a safe trip home. Lot of nice families came in with the kids from the burbs. Summer is time for enjoyment too, and I can't begrudge anyone some fun. CPD, CFD, OEMC dispatch, TMAs who helped with crowds crossing streets, all did the best they could to keep it cool and orderly, even with the two evacs/guide-to-shelter for the thunderstorms on the last day, one around 3 PM and another a little before closing. All those people, and a lot safer than a west side "house party" or hanging on the corner in front of Target Range Liquors, that is for sure.

Good job, all.

God bless. Stay safe.

Oops again -- and thanks to the medical crew who were ready, had a plan, and took good care of the inevitable couple hundred overdoers out of tens of thousands. Some RDO's cancelled there too, you can be sure.

So there it all is...dancin and wigglin under the light of the beneficient Blue Moon...

I thought car 100 & Dispatcher Amy on CW6 were both gonna have grabbers. Between the fence jumpers, fence cutters, calls for a medic for the overdose, seizures, passed out & comatose. The whole three days sucked! God forbid with 80,000 strung out individuals, all it would take for total chaos is one incident that would cause a massive fatal stampede with only two exits.

The simple fact that the 18-24 yr old demographic greatly increased and the 34-42 yr old greatly decreased in attendance would appear to be certainly a cause. Oh, and 11:07 am, you're an idiot.

As long Ari Emanuel owns the company that puts this on and a Vanecko brother is the promoter this bullshit will be here forever.

Wonder why with all the financial shit Rahm won't callout Daley for the debt he left us with. Their families have a incestuous relationship in dirty backroom deals.

While on my fixed post on Michigan ave for the three day event I must have seen several hundred Life Line ambulance runs from Grant park. All I hear from the media is that Lollapalooza was a another total success. Just like that crime is down? LOL

Lollapoosa manangement want the police and the hired security to grab all the fence jumpers, they then handcuff them and walk them down to the police command bus and they then tell the cops o the bus to release them in 20 minutes, well one certain off duty cop who works for S3 security thinks he is a general and throws orders around just because he guards Dennis Rodman. They don't want to put their names on anything like complaints and so the command van refuses them, I remember the Sergeant who ran the Command Van was great at it but was 63 and forced out. He used to tell these security people to take care of their own mess especially when these drunken kids crashed the walls to get in for free. Screw this event.!!!!!!!!

Was there really a swing like that between this year and previous years? Yeah, that would explain some of it.

I don't understand why any CPD gives a rats a@@ about fence jumpers.
If Lalla promoters where so concerned, they should have hired more security to handle them.
I mean, it's not like they don't know that this happens every year.
Actually I believe that last year they had a huge fence breech and several hundred people/folks got thru.

The only CPD chasing the fence jumpers were the recruits. Did not know any better!
