Double Standard Much Rahm?

Remember, you're "fetal," you're scared, you're second-guessing yourself.

Rahm, on the other hand, is not:
  • Mayor Rahm Emanuel's office was more involved in a $20.5 million school contract with a now-indicted consultant than previously disclosed, public records indicate, but his administration has refused to release hundreds of emails that could provide a deeper understanding of how the deal came to be.

Emanuel and his aides have maintained that the mayor's office had nothing to do with the contract to provide leadership training for principals that is at the center of a federal bribery indictment against ex-schools CEO Barbara Byrd-Bennett and the consulting firm where she once worked.

When asked in April if his administration had any role at all in the SUPES contract, Emanuel told reporters, "No, you obviously know that by all the information available. And so the answer to that is no."

Yet the mayor's office and schools officials have been in an ongoing struggle with the Tribune over reporters' public records requests that could bear directly on the controversy, withholding many emails for months before releasing them, several so heavily redacted that little more than the subject line and addresses remain.
You will wear cameras, you will ride with cameras, you will have any cell phone video of your actions dissected and analyzed to the merest recorded electron.

Rahm, however, will fight for his privacy in court:
  • Illinois law says government officials' emails about taxpayer business are public records for all to see. But what if they're sent from private accounts or personal cellphones?

Chicago Mayor Rahm Emanuel argues those are not for public consumption. The Chicago Tribune claims they are, and took the matter to court last month. Gov. Bruce Rauner had his own dust-up this summer over an aide's private emails, and the practice cost a University of Illinois chancellor her job in August.

The issue, once limited to scattered consternations over politicians playing fast and loose with new technology, is pervasive this year, beginning with revelations about Democratic presidential front-runner Hillary Clinton's use of a private email server to conduct business while she was U.S. secretary of state — a case that spurred a lawsuit by The Associated Press.

Public-access advocates insist Illinois law is clear, and the state's attorney general and appellate court weighed in just two years ago, declaring that public business is public record — no matter how it's conducted.
So we can expect Lisa Madigan to back up her ruling by supporting the Tribune lawsuit?

What's the point of proactive police work anyways? We don't have truth in sentencing. All types of repeat bad guys are getting bootcamp, probation, early release and other nonsense for all types of felonies. The feds are even getting ready to release 6000 of their own inmates. So even if police were to be proactive, what's the point?

Speaking of double standard... why isn't Lappe potentially costing us ANOTHER pension election in early 2017 a problem?? Why is Lappe getting a pass from us after getting one from the department his entire career.

The FOP should be leading the charge and telling him not to waste our time and money running. (But he and Angelo are caught in their mutual back scratching loop so Angelo says nothing and collects his tax free money courtesy of Rahm's Lappe-dog and Mike gets another year of wielding power he has so desperately wanted his entire life).

You can sure as shit bet your ass that if "public business" was on an officer's or detective's private phone, and the media or the ASA wanted to see it, there would be no delay from court proceedings over the matter. But when it comes to these rotten scheming lying politicians trying to scrub their devices to cover their tracks over some financial chicanery, they get all the time in the world. The politicians of today do not have a shred of decency, honesty, or honor.

I wouldn't piss on them if they were on fire and I most certainly would not take a bullet for any single one of them. They are so blatantly out for themselves, they inspire no loyalty.

How much longer until Rahm is 75 years old and his doctor brother can Death Panel his worthless ass? Wait I forgot, that won't happen to the "elite", just us slobs and our families. They redistribute our wealth to buy votes while safeguarding themselves and hold themselves above the laws they make.

And what exactly is the basis for their elite status, this political class? Certainly not any military or intellectual prowess. It is a false political elite and there will be a day of reckoning if there is any justice in this world.

Check out the Better Government Association's investigative reports on "The City Colleges of Chicago" (pronounced "Shitty Colleges"). Enrollment is down and tuition is up, but construction contracts continue to be awarded to connected firms and bonuses are approved for Emanuel's lackeys, including the former bankruptcy petitioner that Daley and he promoted as the chancellor. Like the Chicago Board of Education (Chicago Public Schools), the entire board of trustees for the City Colleges are mayoral appointees. Every other district in Illinois holds elections for such posts.

What type of district builds new facilities and additional classrooms while enrollment is declining?

OT : great gesture by season ticket holders that support CPD : great handling by PO stachula to see the family support CPD and great handwringing by news affairs to cover it :

From CPD Facebook :

Chicago Police Officer Jorge Flores and his family were recognized today for officer Flores act of heroism . "Joe" a Rogers Park native, die hard Cubs fan and season ticket holder provided Officer Flores and his family with tickets to Todays Cubs Playoff game. CAPS Officer Stachula from the Rogers Park district (024) where "Joe" and his family grew up presented the tickets on his behalf.

Officer Flores was with his family in 2014 when he single handedly prevented an armed robbery that occurred at a Walgreens store located on Milwaukee Ave. Flores, while off duty took police action that ultimately saved the lives of the patrons in the store. officer Jorge Flores received the Chicago Police Departments Carter Harrison Award: the highest award for bravery.

"Joe " is currently based in London and an avid CUBS fan. "Joe" and his sister have fond memories of their father taking them to Cubs games when they were growing up in Chicago.

Officer Flores also grew up as a die-hard Cubs fan and like Joe has many memories of his father taking him and his brother Ramiro to Cubs games . Ramiro is also a Chicago Police Officer.

When approached with this gesture Officer Flores was speechless. Officer Flores said "I can't wait to take my family to the game, just like my father took Ramiro and me."

A special game that Officer Flores and his family will always remember! An extraordinary act of kindness that they will never forget! – Thank you "Joe" and your sister Gloria for their generosity. " Go Cubs Go!"

Joe wanted to remain anonymous but also wanted to express that he feels privileged to provide the Flores family with this special opportunity to signify his admiration of all police officers and their families.

Joe made this gesture in his support all the men and women in Law Enforcement and who are out their everyday risking their lives to protect the lives of others !

(In a sing-song, non-threatening, baby-talk voice)

>Door opens<

12+ Feet and 500+ Pounds
of CEE-Muthafuckin'-PEE-DEE
shrouded in cee-gar smoke and
glaring from the darkness...

"EEEEEEK!"
>Door Slams Shut<
(Actually occurred)

What?

You got a problem with the old
"Creature Feature"/"Night-Stalker"
Police who still haunt these here parts?

You and yours ought to be on your
bald and naked knees giving thanks
to whatever entity you pledge devotion to,
that some of us are still around...

Cue:
Marty McNeely's "Creature Feature Rap"
accompanied by Henry Mancini's "Experiment In Terror."

(Y'all Ch.9 watchers over 55 ought to know this!)

So everyone is ok with this special election courtesy of Lappe's ego???
10/13/2015 01:58:00 AM

I thought someone would serve their entire term out, once elected. No special election required.
Could someone from the union respond here, please? (NO, NOT YOU, person-with-a huge-axe-to-grind-against-Lappe.)

"someone from the union respond here"??? What does the union have to do with anything related to ILCS? Nothing - nothing to with the Statute that pertains to the police pension fund. If you can read, you can read the Illinois Compiled Statues (ILCS) yourself. This has been in at least 3 other posts.

If the patrolmen rep was made sergeant during his term, there is language in the statute that allows for term completion. But NOT IF YOU LEAVE THE POLICE SERVICE FOR ANY REASON. Being on the police job is the bare bones absolute MUST to be a seated member of the pension fund. It trumps all other eligibility and term language. I have never heard of the dept letting a po "stay longer" on the job. Off the job, off the pension board. Very simple.

ILCS SECTION 5-180 "ANY MEMBER ELECTED BY THE ACTIVE POLICEMEN WHO WITHDRAWS FROM THE POLICE SERVICE OF THE CITY SHALL AUTOMATICALLY CEASE TO BE A MEMBER OF THE BOARD"

I am certain my years of night law school isn't required to read and understand that statement. I would bet all the members of the pension board understand this very well.

That said, it is self serving that Lappe is running. If he wins this time, there will be a special election when he turns 63 along with all the associated costs .

The question is, who does society expect to wear a camera?
A. The POlice
B. Chicago scumbag politicians-- i.e. criminal politicians
C. Joe Smo the construction worker...

I know it's a hard question, but don't bust a spring coming up with an answer guys...
You don't need body cameras to get the scum political class in this state. Just get the eavesdropping laws changed to make it a one party law. There would be many hidden tape recorders in peoples pockets just waiting for the conspiracy laden conversations .

No vests yet, but crown cap, '58 star on leather jacket, narrow-stripedy pants, double-soled heavy-ass leather shoes, .357 and a Hi-Power on duty belt and at least one more somewhere else, nightstick or the 5-D Kel-Lite as soon as it came out, and one-pound Elevator/Vestibule/Stairway Instant Fight Stopper in its little pocket. Either see-gars or Pall Mall straights.

Oh-oh. We're in trouble.

Us kids'd just stand and shake. Then say "Yes Sir." Then we'd go away as per order -- and start running the second we got around the corner from the being-demolished building we were messing around in after school. "Urban Renewal," you know, those days. Thing could have fallen in on us, we didn't know better.

Got home safe for dinner and Mom's wondering how you got all dirty.

Thank you, Officers!

The police slowdown is only going to get worse while the homicide numbers soar.

10/13/2015 06:38:00 PM

Speaking of slowdowns...a tad OT here SCC.

The Department of Finance PEA union is looking into filing a Grievance against every city agency that issues citations of the same type that PEA's issue; during the PEA's standard work shift (IE: 6am to 7pm, Mon thru Fri). The original idea is to get rid of the Ser Co sub-contractors and prevent the City Clerk and Crossing Guards from issuing tickets when 'us mouth breathers" are on duty. In the case of the Clerks License Investigators...it would cover any citations issued for anything Other than City Sticker infractions. There was talk at the watering hole that the grievance would have to be expanded to cover street cleaning and rush hour and meter tickets, etc being written by the CPD. The point was also mooted about since the CPD has the State Charge books, they should be restricted to using that for Exp Plates, Rear and Front, Non-Compliant plates (9-76-160D).

In all fairness, I don't for the life of me understand why the hell I've been running into 1st District Copper Tickets for Expired Meters in the Loop this week. I personally am a "first come, first serve" kinda guy...you get to it first...good for you. Rush Hour enforced by 025? Great...but getting dirty looks from PO's in 020, 024, 016, 018, 019, 001, 014 because I got the street cleaning before they did mystifies me.

I even get that "certain stroke supervisors" want a fixed number of Parkers, movers and ANOV's and Contact Cards for you to get on that choice VRI OT List.

Just a heads up from your favorite Guy on a Bike.

Another OT thing...

How the F* is it allowed for the City Clerks License Investigators to be getting away with carrying a Fire Arm while On Duty? Can anyone here answer that one? Bloodbath every night and there's time for this s__t.

Cut police manpower, end up with more unionized employees to cover police functions; except unarmed and w/no other authority.

Reduce crime and save a lot of money that way. Coppers could switch from directing traffic to a serious call just like that. TMA can scream for help, and march in Daley Plaza demanding "What do we want? Respect!" &c.

There's supposedly no money, but it all keeps dividing like an amoeba, grows and grows...

City eating itself alive.

GTR a company Rauner owned that Rahm deposited the entire teacher pension fund into, its value went from 200 to 490 million Rauner sold it right be for he ran for governor at a nice profit mind you. You know its not cheap for he and Rahm to fly up to his home in Montana. drink 1000 dollar bottles of wine and play broke back mountain. Oh yeah both Rahm And BRUCIE got 250,000 for their campaigns from GTR. The schools are a cash cow for the chosen, like Rahms for profit school that illegal graduated CPS students so Rahmmie the commie could claim graduation rates are up. Dont buy into the charter school bullshit every time a charter school opens your handing your tax dollars outright to one of these two friends Pirates is an abbreviation for Privateers.

Dude, if you wanted to write tickets become a copper. Stop acting official and then when shit hits the fan call the coppers for help.

Coppers don't aspire to become revenue guys. Blue shirts are using the violation to initiate contact in order to look for more serious infractions.

....ie....we look for dude parked on a fire plug in order to see that he has a suspended license. When he has a suspended license we find a gun and no FOID on his person. We then salivate.....Revenue guys aren't trying to do that.

Dude....if this frigging city would have called me with an Invite to the Academy on Jackson after I took my test in '06, I'd have happily put on the uniform. If they would have called me with an invite after I took the test in '10 or '11, same thing.

Want to know when I got my Call? 6 weeks before I turned 40. There is that whole "Must be a PPO before you turn 40" rule...I wasn't willing to take the chance that I'd get released from Training the day I turned 40 because "Oh Well, them the rules."

No one I know wants to be Parking Enforcement. If I'd have known the Shit I would have to deal with Before I applied...fuck...I'd have taken the Detention Aide Position instead. Or maybe gotten a pair of Knee pads and tried to earn some clout at the OEMC.

This isn't Parking Wars on tv. I took the PEA job because I spent 2 years and change as a part time TMA working out of 001 and O'Hare and Midway (feel free to crack jokes about that one) and I figured, what the heck, Full time is better than part time. I figured I could eventually transfer to a different agency or area of the city and maybe be able to actually make use of the knowledge that my College degree got me and apply it to real world situations after being Taught how to do what ever job I slid over to from the Dept of Revenue (now Finance). You think this is how I want to spend my City Career? Oh Hell no. Shitty attitudes from th non-city employees and "do you know who the fuck I am" type attitudes from City Employees. Theres a damn reason my director is looking into body cameras for us and the booters.

As for "Shit hits the Fan, and call for a copper"...I don't put myself into situations where I need to call 9-1-1. Thats why I'm so damn visible in the Nicer areas of this damn town. I did my time working 011, 015, shitty areas of 014, crap areas of 025, to name a few. I prefer 018, 019, 020, 024, 017, 016, 001. Less likely to get anything more than a shitty attitude or "get a real job" comments.

And as for the "Cops don't aspire to be revenue guys".... I got to (with the utmost respect for the Police) call BS on that.

024 district cops driving the wrong way down Winthrop and Kenmore writing street cleaning. The Beat Cop that Walks Bryn Mawr every day from Broadway to Sheridan....Mr "This is my block" not yours. The District Cops that are writing 7am Street Cleaning in 020 an d024 on Broadway...The district cops doing the 6am to 9am Street Cleaning on Devon. Or writing the Taxi Cabs on Pratt for 9-64-170A. The Shakespeare and Town Hall cops doing Street Cleaning. The Near North District cops that roll in with 3 Squads or 2 Squads and a cop on a Segway around De Paul. The 018 district PO's that roll around Oak and Hudson writing everything that Isn't Nailed Down. Or this one I loved...a Cop in 024 Driving the wrong way down Western Near Peterson writing every Truck for 9-64-170B at like 7:30am a few years ago.

You want to write Tickets, Mr Police Officer, Sir? I of all people on this planet shouldn't have to point out that you have the ANOV's and Movers. Thats COURT TIME right there.

Want to know what makes me salivate? The hot little brunette Cop thats been working the detail out of City Hall the last few weeks. OMG what a cutie.

Attitudes like yours turn nice guys like me into tape measure carrying, by the book ordinance recitation Jagoffs.

Instead of the slightly sarcastic, but attempting to be polite and professional at all times Despite what it is I have to do to pay off my student loans and survive in this city.

Be Safe, come home alive.
