More Media Omissions

There they go again, changing stories following publication in case someone gets offended...or points out some stupid shit. Yesterday's quote from aldercreature Ervin:
  • Ald. Jason Ervin (28th) told McCarthy that “folks sell dope like candy” in his West Side ward. He accused McCarthy of neglecting such quality-of-life issues — and instead putting all of his attention on the city’s rampant violence.
Except the quote was a bit different yesterday. It included this line:
  • “folks sell dope like candy....folks sell cigarettes like candy...
Gee....Ervin bitching about quality-of-life issues like....loosie cigarette sellers. And the Sun Times removed that portion of the quote from the story. Why oh why would that be?

Oh yeah...NYPD (where Garry is from) enforcing cigarette ordinances (passed by the city council) as "qualify of life" arrests (that Ervin is bitching about), led to a overweight criminal expiring of a heart attack following his arrest for....selling cigarettes like candy.

Can't you just taste the irony here? Ervin bitching about cigarettes, failing to realize he's undercutting the entire BLM movement, all in the name of hammering a superintendent who wouldn't remove a District Commander Ervin didn't like.

And the Sun Times obviously realized this and took the offending quote out of their story.

They're all one entity. The media and politicians stand together in solidarity to pull the wool over people's eyes to advance their own interests.
This is all a show. They're ALL in on it together.

All these accusations and finger pointing and fist pounding but then behind closed doors they're shaking hands and hugging each other and laughing about it. They should all get academy awards.

Ald. Ervin was on WTTW's Chicago Tonight on Tue. Here he is making the "loose cigarettes" comment at about the 3:10 mark:

If these idiots in the City Council want McStreetlights gone, then he should give the city a parting gift by investigating some of these fools for corruption and their own criminal behavior.

Now that would be something.

Am I the only one who noticed the other irony in the order of your posts? In this post, you have an aldercreature bitching about selling dope in his ward. Complaining that the police need to crack down, and do something about it.
But in the post directly above this one, you point out the government releasing drug-offenders since their punishment is too harsh. WTF?

Have your cake, or eat it. You can't do both.

Let them sell dope like candy, or when they are locked up- keep them there.

A long time ago, when The Tribune had a real Editor, it ran a series on The Underclass...and it concluded with this appropriate editorial (click): The attitude of contempt is the dominant characteristic of the underclass.

The attitude of contempt is directed against society and the underclass itself.

The attitude of contempt is acted out against society through vandalism, crime and exploitation of society`s institutions.

The attitude of contempt is acted out by the underclass against itself by rejecting education, hygenic living and by practicing self-destructive behavior.

The attitude of contempt is learned.

The attitude of contempt has been taught with dedication for many years by the ``intellectuals`` and the paternalistic bureaucracy. The intellectuals and the bureaucrats have an economic and psychological interest in maintaining the status quo. They ridicule any attempt to change the ethos of the underclass. Yet this is the only hope.

The attitude of contempt must give way to responsibility, respect and pride if the growth of the underclass is to be checked.

The media is wise, very wise and rightly they do not want to offend the people, or make local government sound offense. Alder persons are all that stand between many of our citizens and uncontrolled chaos.

I saw Ald. Jason Ervin on Chicago Tonight along with Alds. Nick Sposato and George Cardenas. Ervin repeatedly made the point that he doesn't get many calls about violent crime but rather gets many calls about loitering, people selling loose cigarettes and dealing drugs. He complained that CPD won't lock them up. So now I'm thoroughly confused. All we ever hear Toni Preckwinkle say is that she doesn't want anyone who is committing those types of quality of life or "annoyance" offenses, as she calls them, locked up. So which is it? Do black leaders want these offenders locked up or not? Make up your mind. Damned if you do and damned if you don't.

quality of life beefs??? a minimum of three separate units are held down from Argyle/Sheridan, Argyle/Kenmore and Argyle/Winthrop with a Sergeant many times because of quality of life details.

What used to be a rare occurance, a backlog, is now commonplace.

Many taxpayers in 020 who are now being treated like taxpayers in 016, 017, 022, etc

Hey Garry, I'll bet you thought those aldermen were real assholes they way they treated you. How dare they act like such children when talking to a professional, adult human being. Bet you felt angry and, at times, embarrassed. Well guess what? YOU do exactly the same thing at Comstat. You treat people like shit, embarrass them, and make yourself look like a fool just like those alderman did with you. Bet it doesn't feel so good being on the other end, now does it? So in the meantime, take your arrogant New Yok attitude and stick it, along with your bullshit comstat. Cuz guess what? IT AIN'T WORKING!

Isn't this Goodyear Blimp the son of a retired Lieutenant? Besides being blatantly racist this clown goes on Chicago Tonight last Tuesday and sputters the same crap about loose squares while the other panelists discuss actual reasons for firing Garry. Ervin also alleged that Garry wouldn't return his phone calls when the other Aldercreatures stated that Garry returns their calls or has one of his staff contact him.
Why does the Slum Slimes pull this shit other than wanting to keep the BLM/i can't breathe mantra intact since the paper is now Anti Garry (for all the wrong reasons)! Notice how Sneed is no longer a cheerleader for Garry? Let's see when Rahmulus gives her a scoop on the next Supt.

Well, if you actually READ this post, it's about an aldercreature bitching about "loosie" sales and why don't the police enforce quality of life issues, which we point out is a tad ironic seeing as enforcing "loosie" sellers is what got a bunch of NYPD in hot water, thereby contributing to the national de-policing, which means "loosie" sellers don't get hassled as much which means aldercreatures can complain.....you get the picture?

It's another Circle of Dumbassery.

If you actually READ the other post, it's about releasing 6,000 felons, some of whom have rather violent backgrounds and comparing it to Quinn's failed experiment of early release which lead to a provable increase in violent crimes, including a murder or three.

So you aren't seeing irony - you're just not comprehending the two completely different natures of the posts.

It's because nobody cares! The residents, local officials, clergy and 011th district officers. I come here for laughs and a pay check nothing more. It's zeros across the board and only thing we do is help other PO's when they need it. This district is so far gone and we like it that way.

How about Alderman Burnett's comments when they asked whether he supports the Black Caucus calling for McCarthy's firing:

Another of the three, Ald. Walter Burnett (27th), said Tuesday he had missed the Black Caucus news conference about McCarthy for his uncle’s funeral but also thought the top cop should step down.

“How could I not be with the caucus? I’m black,” Burnett said Tuesday in the room behind the Council chamber.

Inside, at the Council’s hearing on the Police Department budget, aldermen took turns blasting McCarthy to his face. The top cop seemed as unlikely as ever to accept much blame for violence in the neighborhoods, cementing the impression he thinks he’s “the smartest person in the room all the time,” as Ald. Anthony Beale (9th) put it.

“He’s a police. He acts like a police. What can you say?” Burnett said when I asked if he was bothered by McCarthy’s attitude.

-Racist? Oh, that's right, blacks can't be racist. I wonder what the result would be if a white alderman stated he supported a cause because he's white. Gotta love the double standard! No condemnation by Rahm or anyone else. I'm shocked!

More police in the non tax paying parts of the city. Once again getting services they haven't earned or in my opinion...deserve. Too bad any police officers have to work in their filthy, no class areas. They should police themselves, make the alderman the superintendents of their little kingdoms, but NO handouts. So bottom line...GO FUCK YOURSELVES.

Michelle into-the-school-trash-can diet, sugar be evil too.

"Selling candy like cigarettes!"

Random/not random. Life-threatening/non-life-threatening.

Meaningless by now, interchangeable.

Whole English language is gone by now, co-opted. Ran into someone the other day who used "before" and "after" as equivalent -- and then got loud and argumentative when called on it. "No, I didn't say what I just said!"

Your pick...

My oh my. How soon we forget. Doesn't anyone recall, just last season, all those wonderful "I CAN'T BREATHE" t-shirts? Especially the Derrick Rose, NBA-Chicago Bulls model? And now an alderman is demanding enforcement on what the whole country (black folk) was saying "Big deal, a man has to make a few bucks come on now this is raciss" Tsk tsk. No enforcement from me, ever. I am still navigating the minefield that leads to retirement.
