Down to Dozens

  • Activists held at least three rallies Saturday in Chicago in the wake of the release of videos of Laquan McDonald's killing but drew only a fraction of the crowds that shut down parts of the Mag Mile for much of Black Friday
Well Done to all who ended up working the protests, and will no doubt, continue to be on stand-by until the temps start dropping and the snow piles up.

Any POs or their families who venture to the Loop this holiday season, please stop in and get a coffee and pastries or a meal at Wildberry Cafe, 190 E Randolph. They took good care of officers assigned to that area on Friday, bringing coffee and baked goods out to them.

I've been working the protests the past few days and have engaged in conversation with more than a few of the protesters. Here is what I told every last one of them:

* The video was held until after the mayoral election because Rahm knew the black community wouldn't have voted for him if it were released prior to or during his campaign. I made it abundantly clear that Rahm "played the black community" and used the word "coverup" several times as I explained my theory.

* I suggested that they take the protests to Rahm's neighborhood and provided them with a certain block on North Hermitage in Ravenswood as a starting point. I also suggested they get their permit(s) squared away so they don't give LE any reason to shut them down. Also told them to expect to be given a hard time about permits being issued (or denied completely) for that location and to be sure to notify the media if/when that becomes reality.

* I made it perfectly clear that McCarthy, Alvarez, the city council, the media and certain rev'runs were complicit in the coverup as they were all focused on getting Tiny Dancer reelected to keep the status quo in full swing.

You'd be surprised just how many decent, educated protesters were in the ranks out there. It's just too bad they were outnumbered 100-1 by savages. We discussed how assholes like The Starer and other ignorant motherfuckers who berated innocent people and got right in cops' faces, directing personal insults, racial epithets, etcetera hurt their cause. I lost count how many protesters actually THANKED us. Hell, I had one (female black) offer me (a blonde-haired, "blue-eyed devil") a pair of pocket hand warmers.

I'd guess that 9.5's security detail bootlickers will actually be earning that D3 pay sometime in the very near future.

FUCK YOU, RAHM.

At what point does the rights of the plural kick in rather than rights of small numbers over many persons....small numbers of persons may gather legally to cease business, stop persons from their freedom of movement and, on occasion, use force to visibly stare down others or to put fear in some. Guess its all semantics and not going to be a consideration....rights of a few will prevail over rights of many....even atheists, prayer or religious symbols. Where is Liberty?

Cold temps and snow ain't gonna happen. Our president is leaving for France in a day or so to the great world wide UN conference on Global Warming/Climate Change. The climate change has got so bad and the climate is so hot that Chicago may never see snow. It is a global emergency and Mr. Obama is going to help lead the world out of this climatic death spiral. Be thankful that he knows what to do to save us.

No. Not a return to normal. The rioters needed to do their own shopping. If they rioted for TWO days they would miss out on all the holiday bargains.

Check out the op Ed piece in today's Daily Southtown written by Arthur Acevedo, an associate professor at John Marshall Law School. He is proposing that the first bullet in a cop's chamber be filled with a blank bullet. For real . This asinine proposal was given a whole half page in a large community newspaper. He will probably win a Pulitzer Prize for this "life Saving" idea. I feel really sorry for you poor coppers.

Good luck with putting in for standby. union already inquired about that with MLAS, was told no, and folded immediately. People in districts filed grievances and were then told no by FOP. Same with Sgts and Lts unions.

Why don't they protest at the Mayors home? I want to see stare downs face to face with mayor, his wife and officers assigned to his home .
Why not a protest at city hall , let's have stare downs with every alderman , walk into city hall , get in face of 50 alderman that voted for $5,000,000 in cover up money .

I saw the article about the first round being blank. Won't help though as most training scenarios have two shots center mass and one to the head. So in his world, it will be one to scare, immediately followed by one to the chest and one to the head.

works for me

Can we get something straight about the people that are assigned to the Mayor's house? They are just 019 Dist personnel, and while there are a few people that are "the regular crew", it's just like any other district assignment. They don't get D-3 pay, and they're not part of the his Detail Unit. I've been assigned to that detail several times. It's not for everyone. I used to hate it. To someone else who said, "let them earn their money" if there are protests there doesn't know what he speaks. His detail guys won't be out there. 019 Dist people will. That district is short enough. I'm glad I left and don't have to deal with that nonsense.

"that voted for $5,000,000 in cover up money"

Well it wasn't a very good cover up since the people who knew about the shooting from the beginning include: CPD, McDonald Family, Lawyers, States Attorney, FBI, US Attorney, the media. The only item delayed, pending trial, was the video which was overblown by the media as far as content.

Typical of a coward professor...when the first police offiers dies because of his first round idea failed this goof will say it was only a suggestion and a conversation starter.

If he wants police officers to stop shooting have him, instead of writing articles, ghetto sit for eights hours a day for at least three months during the summer in a violatile district. I can guartentee after he returns from his three month tour he will recommend fully automatic weapons for the police.

You know that, and I know that, BUT, I've been outside of Rahm's house on a couple of occasions where protestors were in front of his house. NATO '12 was one, and there were some airport janitors that got the shaft through some shady deal that marched on his house. They've allowed it in the past.
